Question for the yokels... ?
Can you help me settle a dispute?
Are there only 8 ways to get safely to first base?
And does there HAVE to be two outs for a dropped 3rd strike?
BTW: I heart Michael Barrett (bigtime), but...

No on the dropped third strike.
The base must not be occupied for a dropped third strike to be live when there are less than two outs.
I’m still counting the ways to get to first.
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.
If you mean for a BATTER to get safely to first
Then yes. Single, Walk, Dropped Third Strike, HBP, Catcher Interference, Error, Fielder’s Choice, Fielder’s Interference. There are many variants of those rules, but they aren’t scored differently.
I think
catcher interference and fielder’s interference (also ump and fan) are counted as the same thing?
Also, sorry I don’t know how to score (and I don’t mean to go all bosnia08 on ya) but if I looked at the score card I would see the batter got to base safely, but I would not see how?
"We've... we've got lumps of it 'round the back."
Umpires are usually "in play."
Catcher’s/Fielder’s interference would be scored as a hit, I think.
