Downward Slope
Today marks the downward slope into the end of May. Today we stand at 4-10 for the month, not even close to anticipated, starting Interleague Play with the Mariners. After this series the Padres return home for a three game set with the Cardinals followed by a four game set with the Reds. Following a day of rest, the Nationals will be in town and the Friars head on the road, ending the month of May in San Francisco.

Last year's team would be licking their chops at the opportunity presented here. With the exception of the Cardinals, we have a bunch of sub-.500 opponents coming up. This is the team's best shot at clawing itself back to .500. Not only do they need to do that, but June is going to probably be the most unfriendly month this season, so they will need to hold any ground they can make until they get back into division matchups for the final two months of the season.
If there is going to be any kicking into gear, any gettin' fired up, it needs start here and now. This is probably turning point #43 on the year, but who cares anymore? It's only too late when we're mathematically eliminated! I am riding this blazing handbasket the whole way down. LET'S GO PADRES!

To quote Coach John Kentera
In baseball, momentum is only as strong as your next day’s starter. Keep it going tomorrow, Wolfie!
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

And Padres...
Pay no attention to the Bedard and Hernandez behind the curtain.
I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.
