Open Thread: 5/14, Padres vs. Cubs

San Diego Padres @ Chicago Cubs

The line up looks a lot different then yesterday.  Scott Hairston leading off today.  I guess that works, since I like Brian Giles in the three spot much more than in the lead off position.  The Aussie Huber is back in the line up after a long break playing left field.  I guess Edgar Gonzalez didn't play spectacular enough to steal Kouz's position again.  Probably not the best of line ups, but they are trying to make it extra challenging for Peavy.  We don't want him getting bored.

Go Padres!!!

Why

Mess with success?

I hope I spelled that right…so tired right now…too many carbs at lunch

If you can't be a good example, at least serve as a horrible warning...

Listening

to Edgar and Luke reminds me fall in love all over again with the Padres…

I’m such a sap!

Facing lefty.

So Edgar is out because we have Iguchi, the rest sit because of numbers.

I hate this lineup

This is the Bud Black “I want everyone to be happy” lineup. And I know it’ll be spun as the right thing because Lilly is a left-hander, but I think that’s garbage. This lineup hasn’t done squat against lefties all season – let the other guys have a shot before you revert to the conventional method.

why don't we see how the game turns out?

We’ve turned a corner and I trust Buddy.

I am there, too.

But I don’t have to like to lineup to keep my trust in him, do I?

Don’t make me choose!

CHOOSE!!!

(But, uh, choose my side, okay? I don’t wanna have to form an alliance and vote you off the island.)

Fine!

I lost my trust in him for about twenty minutes while he was filling out the lineup card!

Hmmm

I’m not sure that’ll be enough to keep me from voting you off tonight. But now I’m wondering if you have the hidden immunity idol…

Boo!

I’ll be accepting apologizes at the end of the game.

I'd like to respectfully

disagree. Harry needs to go.

I just don't like Hairston leading off

We already know he can’t leadoff.

Exactly, right?

Doesn’t matter which side of the plate he’s on – he’s not suited to hit first.

Today on radio Jason Marquis said

my brother is at wrigley right now

and he said some random dude just stood up and yelled “GO DODGERS”...wtf? so apparantly everyone looked around and talked about finding the guy and throwing him out

I just assumed

it was you attempting to confuse people and stir things up. Like the way you do here. I figured you were yelling either “GO DODGERS!” or “YOU GUYS ARE ALL A BUNCH OF AHOLES!!!”

It was a toss-up.

by Winfield's Ghost on May 15, 2008 7:26 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

You're close.

Yesterday, I was committed to calling Soriano an a-hole. Right from the start. I didn’t even wait until I was drunk.

I hate everything about that guy.

I'm lefty...

I always had good numbers against the LHPs in Little League.

Yes… someone’s dad kept stats.

No shame

I did that in high school because my coaches weren’t real good with numbers.

Today's best run scoring opportunities will fall on

Hairston and maybe Iguchi.

Because Jake’s hitting for the cycle today, and someone has to drive him in.

God I hope so

And then we could get the sequel to CY- Derrek Lee if Soriano would charge. I bet Jake would win.
