Smells Like Padres in Here - Wednesday Edition

Maybe it is May after all.

Gerut likes playing every day.

Kouz finally got the night off and Edgar filled in nicely, thank you very much.

Edmonds appears a near certainty to be a Cub by tomorrow.   This is really worth a quick read because there is a mention of a personality clash while he was with the Padres. Would sort of explain the willingness to eat his contract so quickly.

I love any sort of discussion about curveballs.

And another HT piece on Clayton Kershaw, a guy we should be seeing in LA very soon.

Tonight Jakes goes against Ted Lilly, a guy who's always had a bit of an attitude problem.  Game time is 5:05pm PDT.

The way I see it

if Edmonds was a problem, all the better the Cubs take him on. I really don’t understand what they’re hoping to get out of him, but whatever. It’s their roster spot to waste.

Can we all jump aboard the Luke Carlin bandwagon now? Seriously, this kid should be our starting catcher right now. He adds a whole different dimension to the team.

Nice to see them not give away last night’s game. I swear I thought they would at some point, and I was pleasantly surprised they didn’t.

I like Carlin too

I also want to know if there is a way we can get Egon’s bat into the lineup everyday. He’s been raking!

Me fail English? That's unpossible!

I like Gerut playing everyday, too.

Cubs got nothing to say. They’re thinking the exact same thing KT was thinking when he signed Edmonds in the first place…

I now know way too much about Clayton Kershaw… great.

I would have an attitude if I were called “Lilly” my entire life.

Still waitin’ to dust off the BroBI stat for the Fightin’ Gonzali. :)

Looking up

Winning three out of the last four, the 2008 San Diego Padres.

Overand's gonna be pissed.

Cubs also want Maddux.

Forget Jim Edmonds. If the Cubs want to go after a San Diego player who can make a difference in a World Series push, maybe they should be looking at Greg Maddux.

For a team they talk a lot of crap about, they sure do want a lot of Padres…

That might well

be the case. He absolutely loves San Diego.

I agree.

But ONLY if he really wants to go. If he wants to go back to Atlanta…or Chicago…cool. I have no problem with it. Hell, if he wants to pitch in ‘09 he could even re-sign with us in the upcoming offseason. I just want him to do what he’s comfortable with.

Well, the no trade clause pretty much ensures that.

I’m just saying, if we suck at the trade deadline, and KT can move Maddux or Maddux + (Kouz? Barrett?) in some sort of new Gonzalez/Young type of deal, then I don’t want Maddux sticking around just because we all like the guy.

you did NOT just mention trading Kouzmanoff

Edmonds

Edmonds signing with the Cubs is going to be a mess. I love it.

Obviously not a fan of the Padres...

Steve Rosenbloom is obviously not a fan of the San Diego Padres.

Khalil Green? What? Jody Gerut? Are you kidding me? Shawn Estes? Shawn Freakin’ Estes? The Cubs should be ashamed of themselves for losing a game to those Padres, the Green-Gerut-Estes Padres. Heck, they should be embarrassed about losing an inning to those guys. I’m disgusted. I know it’s only one game, but this is one game you can’t explain, excuse or expect. Youi can’t lose to the worst pitcher the Padres have when Jake Peavy’s coming up. Yeesh.

Uh, it’s spelled “Greene”...with an “E” at the end…just like A-hole.

"I know it's just one game..."

“But I won’t act like it. Instead, I’ll act as if baseball teams should win all 162 of their games.”

Idiot.

That and

I don’t think we’ve lost a season series to the Cubs in like a decade…...how do you root for a team called the losers??

Me fail English? That's unpossible!

LOL

read this guy’s bio. What a bag of douche. Gosh, I would say Chicago is the worst place on Earth if it weren’t for Boston.

I liked Chicago

I think of it fondly as I remember my travels.

I complain a lot about Chicago (mostly about the weather)

But I actually really love this city, and I can’t ask for much more than seeing a full 4-game set at Wrigley…

Although some aspirin would be nice. These Old Style hangovers are nasty little buggers.

in town for the series

and there are billboards scattered around town advertising some service called “askdex.com”

I am wondering if they’re using your name w/o your express written consent.

And, just so you know, they’re NOT using your likeness, for whatever reason.
