Smells Like Padres in Here - Thursday Edition

May starts a little early.  (Seriously, that was good of a game as we've seen in awhile.  Some big hits, some great defense, excellent starting pitching and Werth struck out three times.)

Considering everything, Sullivan says attendance has been pretty good so far this season.

Tony Clark says we need to relax.

Your daily Roger Clemens update.

The Wolf takes on Adam Eaton tonight.  And he finds it weird.  Game time is 4:05pm PDT.

Great. The guy counseling our young players is the same guy that doesn’t have a single extra base hit this season…and has one more RBI than Dex. Perfect.

Attendance vs. SoSD comments

It costs nothing to comment all day on SoSD from an uninformed position, I question how many games these vocal few attend in the first place.

The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

Trade

So that trade with the Ranges, worked out pretty well for Texas. Adam Eaton is pitching okay this season, and has not given up a single hit to any of Texas’s divisional rivals.

Still...

He isn’t doing as well as Aki. Nobody has even put a ball in play off of him. YOSHAA!

Eaton

“I think the offseason has shown that there are plenty of teams out there that want me and value me. If the Padres say I’m a No. 2 (starter), then treat me like a No. 2. I saw how they treated (Brian) Giles and (Trevor) Hoffman in negotiations, and it was disgusting. It doesn’t speak very well of them.”

I hope we hang 10 on him tonight.

i had to reread that

at first I thought you were rehashing your own argument about the padres not willing to dish out any money.

Yeah

Those guys got terrible contracts, I feel sorry for them.

The problem with the Padres Front Office

is they actually knew how good Adam was, and it was this mistake that kept them from giving him #1 money….and trading him for some spare parts (how did CY and Agon do?)

IIRC

At the time of the trade I was way more worried about losing Aki. As good as Adam might have been, he was getting expensive and CYs numbers looked pretty even with AEs and was working for peanuts. I wasn’t sure if the bullpen could handle losing the 8th inning guy (even with Linebrink moving up), but I did like that AGo could replace the aging Klesko and Sledge was an option for LF if Roberts moved on after ‘06 (which he did).

I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.

So if we win today

does that equal a winning streak?

You better check the rulebook

I’m not sure we are allowed to win two in a row if Jake Peavy doesn’t pitch at least one of the games.

I've got my pre-game music blasting...

a 12-pack of IPA and some work-related reading that I won’t even touch tonight. Now where’s my open thread?
