Back to rooting for the Padres. I guarantee you Jake Peavy will try to win today's game so convincingly that the Commissioners Office will give us credit for a win yesterday, even though we lost. They'll say, "Jeez... Did you see what Peavy did? That seriously deserves two wins." If it weren't specifically forbidden by the rules of baseball and several chapters and verses in the Bible, I think Jake Peavy would have already hunted down and eaten most of the Dodgers to guarantee his win.

Next best thing, Jake! Just go for the next best thing!

The rule

Is that when games are shown on Fox, everyone in the U.S. (and 5 other countries) is blacked out from *any* game until 5 pm, or something like that...basically, Fox wants only their television broadcasts to be watched when they're broadcasting them...the fact that you're able to watch any game on there today is a fluke, but I PROMISE I won't tell the authorities.

Too bad the audio's NOT SYNCHED AT ALL

Maybe it's just a Time-Warner thing, but they're at least 2-3 seconds off, really annoying when looking at Matt/Eric Karros talking.

Does anyone know how I can speed up the MLB.TV feed? I'm 20 or 30 seconds behind reality. I've tried refreshing it and that doesn't work.

Rule says

That if you catch a ball and go out of the field of play, it's an error on the fielder and a free base for each runner. Bard technically caught the ball out of the field of play (inside the first step of the dugout), so the runner on third scored.

White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin caught a fly ball about 10' short of the warning track in left field, then loaded up and threw a ball ON THE FLY to the first baseman, who never had to move off the bag to catch the ball to double up a wandering Edgar Renteria. Really an unbelievable play, seek out that game's highlights tonight to watch it. Crazy stuff.

that the MLB.com Stats were 2 days old. It shows him with a .278 OBP. Add in yesterday and today's game, OBP still isn't fantastic.

I miss

Steak & Shake. I didn't really think their shakes were any better than, say, Jack in the Box's, but they were good late-night greasy food where mexican food wasn't around to do the job.
