Penny article
A few weeks back in Vero Beach, Penny took a seat behind Tom Lasorda in the dugout and rode him like one of the four racehorses he owns.
That article truly is for Drama.

Simers article on Penny
I actually read that article on the Times website yesterday morning.
Here is my twice daily routine: Go to google news. Type in "Brad Penny". Read everything that has been written about him in the last 12 hours. Repeat.
BTW - Love the Christian Siriano pic - funny and current. Excellent work.

Happy Birthday, Winfield's Ghost!
The man that brings us "Smells Like Padres in Here", countless laughs and witty anecdotes is celebrating his brithday today.
Some of his closest friends threw him a raging surprise party last night and from what I hear...WG really got down. Let me share with the GLB a pic he texted me late last night from his celly.
The best birthday gift for the man that seemingly has everything? A Padres victory over the Dodgers, of course.

Can't wait till Padres hitters rock Kuroda
after that puff piece. Russell Martin, however, is top notch.

ESPN to the Padres:
"Sorry, but you're record really just isn't that important"
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/powerranking
Couldn't it be said that we currently have the best record in the West after playing arguably the best opponent of anyone in the West this week? I mean, Cardinals, Reds, Giants?
Seriously?

predictable and still annoying
We play the second best (just barely according to the power rankings themselves) opponent of the West and have the best record in the division. Arizona drops two to the Reds and are ranked 6 spots above us? I'm surprised they didn't rank the Astros higher than the Padres and come up with a little sarcastic one-liner explanation that involved Hoffman.
Suck it, power rankings.

HOU 2 CHC 0 Bottom 7th
I hope to God the Astros sweep the Cubs this weekend and the Cubs stay 10 spots ahead of us.

It's good to be the
They always rank the Cubs, Braves and Dodgers above the Pads. It is just that much more fun to watch their fans get their hearts ripped out when their team sucks.
