Good news from Portland
Jody Gerut is knocking the cover off the ball over the last few games. Not some much with HRs, but lots of multihit games.
My pal, Chase Headley hit his second HR on Monday and after a light hitting Tuesday he's got a multihit game today, including a double. So maybe the guy is turning the corner. He better because it seems that the only possible replacement for our offense woes is this guy according to KT.
Clay Hensley has been pitching well. He's been averaging a strikeout per inning and only 1 ER on 4 IP for Portland (he also pitched for Lake Elsinore). Note: He's working exclusively from the bullpen, but pitched 2 innings today.
Venable is hitting well and has been showing some doubles power. He's also been working a CF so this might be the 2009 CF for the Padres.
EGon is sporting an OPS over 1.000 and has been learning to play the OF (RF and LF).
There is bad news though: LeBlanc got absolutely shelled today and Antonelli dropped his average below .200. None of the AAA starters have good stat lines so far and Dirk Hayhurst is the only reliever with numbers to be proud of.

Dirk and Matt
Dick’s name is Dirk … he does look funny when he pitches, however … you’ll see what I mean when they call him up … which does seem likely, even if only in Sept …
And Matt Antonelli’s BA doesn’t tell the whole story … he is getting on base with 15 BBs to only 17 Ks …

Yeah, but
If they learn he’ll just get out on his own, they’ll stop walking him. Such is the problem with walks and no hits/power.
I watched all 23 innings and all I got was this lousy signature.
