Hell Day 2: Some Padres win!

Day 2 in Hell (Phoenix, Arizona)

Well some Padres got the job done today, former Padres. Former Friar Jack Cassel battled his way through 5 1/3 before handing off the ball to the bullpen. Notable performances by former Friars Geoff Blum (bases loaded double, 3 RBI) and give the late-inning W to Doug Brocail, who went 1 2/3, allowing a hit and striking out two.

Lunch today was at the Mu-Shu Asian Grill . Kind of like those mongolian bbq places where you load a bowl full of meats and vegetables and they cook it, but it also had the typical Chinese fare. It was different than every other Chinese place in SD I've eaten, but everything was fresh and thus, tasty. Cost: $8-10 per person.

While we had lunch, somebody failed at the conditional left turn lane, nice head-on accident, totaled both cars. I think my hearing is still muffled from last night, because I didn't hear it happen, even though it was on the corner the restaurant was on. On a related note, the PA system was considerably quieter tonight.

Could not say the same for Dbags fans, who were quite punchy and sore this evening. I would be too, though, if I cared about basketball and my team was getting eliminated. Also the Astros are beating you with the B-squad lineup (Cruz, Jr. is batting .070), and Bob Melvin chose to start Edgar Gonzalez instead of the kid who just set the new record for most retired batters in a row on their MLB debut (Max Scherzer, 13 in a row). Oh, and Valverde slammed it in your face. But at least they had a pulse.

Tomorrow's rubber game features The Big Unit facing off against Shawn Chacon. Berkman and Lee have yet to launch one.
