This guy is much more "done" than Trevor ... can he go 0-20?
I’ve been predicting he’ll go 0-20 since his 2nd start of the season … and he’s way on pace …
Hmmm, I expected perhaps he’d injure his xyzzx and go on the DL and then have a few rehab assignments … but then he’d get a few more starts and keep plodding towards 0-20 … but from the bullpen, he might be able to get a cheap W … and for sure they can prevent him from amassing more L’s (they will have plenty of opportunities to get him innings in games during which they are behind) ...
The suckitude of Zito seems like it will be so outstanding as to dwarf any/all challengers till the end of time …
You heard it here first!
A rare bright spot for us Padres fans
Someone else to laugh at.

more done than trevor?
wins and losses are funny to look at when they are exteme, like 6-0 or 0-6, but it really is an overrated stat. Since he joined the Giants, Zito hasn’t been THAT bad. Some stinkers sure have made his stats suck. He gave his team a chance to win many many times in 2007, and twice in 2008.
Yeah, it’s completely totally fair game to laugh our asses off at the stupidity of the contract. But once you sign the contract, it’s a sunk cost. Forget about it. And Zito can still be a very serviceable #3-type starter for years, making a quality contribution. When Maddux (who is already inconsistent) is gone, Padres supporters will be clamoring for a guy who can make consistent starts after CY and Jakkkkke.
Doom hit SF when they signed that contract, not when he was sent to the bullpen. This could be highly beneficial for them, long-term.
#3 starter vs sent to the bully?
You are right on that the contract was the mistake … but the question of the day is whether Zito is a #3 starter or a bullpen guy or completely done. I’ve not seen him pitch lately … have you? I’m basing my opinion on comments I’ve heard and ready from many people who have seen him pitch a lot lately … and their comments are clear and consistent and frightening (for fans of Giants and/or Zito). They are not seeing any evidence that supports any hope of him being a #3 starter. The move to the pen is a change … perhaps some extended rest will change things physically for him … perhaps he’ll get some coaching or figure something out for himself to change his mechanics or approach that he wouldn’t have had if left in the rotation … and he’s certainly young enough and previously-skilled enough that it’s reasonable to think that changes along these lines can be effective … but there are limits … and Zito’s pushing them …
