Smells Like Padres in Here - Tuesday Edition
There are lots of funny lines I could use here, like "Houston, we had a problem" or something like that. But that's totally cliched and the first thing I learned in professional writing school was avoid cliches. (Second thing was to stop using crayon.) So let's just go with that was some kind of train wreck.
Clark's injury occurred because he is too old to play 22 innings.
The same people who send their inane questions to Corey Brock have sent a few to the U-T.
An interesting look at reliever use.
My second favorite SB Nation site is Royals Review for two reasons. When I was a kid, I had relatives in Kansas City and we would visit them every summer and go to Royals games and once I got my picture taken with George Brett, Willie Wilson, Dan Quisenberry and Dennis Leonard. So they were sort of my adopted team. But the second reason that I like Royals Review is because those guys always make me laugh. Here's just one example.
MVP goes for the split tonight against Brandon Backe. Game time is 5:05pm PDT.

I'm not even kidding.
Did you read that Fanpost about Frank Thomas yesterday? (If you did, I apologize.) That was such a garbage. At the time I figured…ehhh, slow day on the GLB…this is kinda funny. Uh, no. I was driving home going what the f**k was that?? I got home and deleted that piece of crap as soon as I could. The losses are draining what limited skills I had to begin with…and on top of that I’ve been a total bitch.

Yeah
it hurts all over right now. Like all over. And all I hear on MLB Home Plate on XM is how great the D-Backs are.
It’s just kind of sad that the Padres aren’t playing anywhere near their potential. We have a good team. It would just be nice to see them start playing like it.
And Khalil needs to go yard. Like yesterday.

What happened?
.. to the consensus last year that no matter how many games the Dbacks win, they still aren’t that good? I liked that one better.

Update:
Last Friday, the U-T had a story about Petco Park serving beer with a lower alcohol content.
Here’s an update on that story.
A Sportservice spokesman said the practice at Petco was the exception, rather than the rule.“The type of draft beer being served at Petco Park in San Diego is consistent with draft beer being served at many stadiums and large public gathering places in the state of California. This practice began at Qualcomm stadium under another concessionaire, and was carried through to the new ballpark,” the spokesman said in a prepared statement.

Except that
they also have Stone’s Pale Ale, which is somewhere between 6 & 7 percent ABV.
