Open Thread: 4/17, Padres vs. Rockies
Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres, Apr 17, 2008 7:05 PM PDT
I've got some breaking news about tonight's game. I know you are all excited because the Miracle of Mobile is pitching, but your buddy jbox is a little bit clumsy and broke Jake Peavy's head off. The miniature give away bobble head isn't as durable as one might expect. This can only mean certain doom for our Padres. It's an omen folks, the bad kind. Not that there is necessarily a good kind of omen.
I'll just say it right now: My Bad.
Bud Black has some line up changes tonight:
Tony Clark at first.
Justin Huber in left.
Scott Hairston in center.

Bud Black on the pre-game show
He’s throwing BP today.
He’s very happy with the starting pitching and defense.
Team hitting is okay. RISP is down. Run production and power are down.

Dude
use a piece of gum. It won’t fix the bobble, but his head will stay in place. C’mon it’ll work!

Callix Crabbe
As long as we’re going to see some bench players start, why not Callix? I want to see what he can do as a starter. I don’t have any stats to justify starting him or anything, I’d just like to see what he can do. And he has speed which would be nice on the basepaths.
Poor bobble Jake. I had the Peavy bobble with him in a race car, and his head broke off that one too.

I realize he’s a legend, but you can’t locate a pitch with a Hall of Fame plaque. It’s all a matter of what you can do for the team right now, and while he retired the side in order, you can’t discount the fact that he came within a few inches of a baaaad situation.
