Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres, Apr 17, 2008 7:05 PM PDT

Peavy_bobblehead_medium

I've got some breaking news about tonight's game.  I know you are all excited because the Miracle of Mobile is pitching, but your buddy jbox is a little bit clumsy and broke Jake Peavy's head off.  The miniature give away bobble head isn't as durable as one might expect.  This can only mean certain doom for our Padres.  It's an omen folks, the bad kind.  Not that there is necessarily a good kind of omen.

I'll just say it right now:  My Bad.

Bud Black has some line up changes tonight:

Tony Clark at first.
Justin Huber in left.
Scott Hairston in center.

Bud Black on the pre-game show

He’s throwing BP today.

He’s very happy with the starting pitching and defense.

Team hitting is okay. RISP is down. Run production and power are down.

Rotation changes via Bud Black

Maddux pitching tomorrow. Chris Young and Maddux are switching spots.

by jbox on Apr 17, 2008 4:16 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Reason

Maddux only threw 68 pitches on Sunday and Chris Young was having some stiffness and might be helped out by the day off.

Dude

use a piece of gum. It won’t fix the bobble, but his head will stay in place. C’mon it’ll work!

Callix Crabbe

As long as we’re going to see some bench players start, why not Callix? I want to see what he can do as a starter. I don’t have any stats to justify starting him or anything, I’d just like to see what he can do. And he has speed which would be nice on the basepaths.

Poor bobble Jake. I had the Peavy bobble with him in a race car, and his head broke off that one too.

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.”

I don't think I've gone here yet, so I will now.....

When the Padres traded for Edmonds this offseason, I was soooo effin pissed off!!

I have NEVER liked the guy!!!

His defense has never been what i consider to be above average. The way I see it, he gets a horrible jump on the ball off the bat, and he always has. The only difference is that back in his Angels days, he had the speed to catch up to the ball and make it onto Sportscenter. But now, he doesn’t have any speed at all, and especially not enough to play CF on a team that needs stellar defense, in a division where 4 of the 5 parks have HUGE outfields.

There, I’m done!

I'm just saying

Somehow, according the numbers, his defense this year is 11% above average.

Seriously, that replay really made it seem like P-Mac was fully expecting a stop sign, and had to turn it back on (and I use that term as loosely as P-Mac’s boxers after a trip to Valley View) once he rounded the bag.
