Camos EVERY Sunday...?

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/080325

Not really sure how I feel about this. I don't know if it's just meant as an attempt to increase the bond the team and the military have here, help recruitment figures (probably not), sell more jerseys and reemphasize the whole "Padres = team of the military" thing, or what...but it seems a bit excessive to wear them every Sunday home game.

Also, I always feel bad when the troops turn into opposite-world Dodger fans and have to leave after, what, the 6th inning? Those guys deserve to see a whole game!

I've never liked them
but I respected that they wore them once or twice a year. Every Sunday home game is too much for me.

i'm undecided as well
its a great tribute to the military and a great representation of san diego...

but i agree that it may be too excessive... I like that its a special tribute and doing it every sunday may deemphasize the importance. I don't know

i guess we'll have to see what its like.

Camo every Sunday?

How about mixing it up? I'd like to see retro road and home jerseys instead.

too much...

First of all I like the camos. I have both the new desert and jungle camo style jerseys. Yea, I bought both of em.

I like the idea of the camo's for military opening night and special holidays where the military should be honored (ie. 4th of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, etc).

I don't like the idea of every them being worn every weekend. Its the same reason the don't wear the 84 RAK's every tuesday. They are reserved for once a year.

This whole camo thing

is being completely overdone. I understand that the Padres are the team of the military and all, but they risk overexposing this concept to the point of meaninglessness.

Don't like it

Once a year, fine. Every sunday, it's like waiving a battleflag.

Plus, it kind of leaves out the Navy. How about some old-fashioned sailor suits?

Or could we also introduce a ranking system - imagine Bud Black in an Admiral's dress uniform, complete with epilets?

I agree, the camies (I prefer the jungle camo over the desert ones) should not be worn every Sunday...there goes the nostalgia.

Err

Considering we only have what, 12 or 13 Sunday home games, I don't think it will be quite as bad as some people seem to think. I like them personally, and since there are Marines at every Sunday home game anyway, I think it is logical to wear them.

That many?

12 or 13 is actually a lot of games. Switch my vote from 'don't like it' to 'hate it.'

Crackerjacks

I definitely think Navy dress blues every other Sunday. I'd love to see somebody slide into second wearing bell bottoms. You could have a semaphore guy giving the steal sign for full authenticity.

Sandy Alderson

Sandy was on 1090 and says that next season they will start having different military uniforms for each the military branches.

And that they could stay longer

..he also mentioned that they have negotiated to allow the units to stay a full 9 innings too.
