Clutch Game

MB over at Friar Forecast points out that voting has started on the Great Clutch Project. So, who's clutch for us? Off the top of my head, I'd say Hairston and Bard. I'm thinking those are guys that show up significantly better in my own mind's loose definition of "clutch" situations. Make your votes and FanGraphs will be tracking the guy that fans vote is the clutch guy for the Padres.

No.
I refuse to participate in a poll that lists Craig Stansberry but not Jody Gerut.

Gerut
Wasn't on the team last year...

But I guess
Edmonds wasn't either. I got no more excuses for them then. BASTARDS!

Exactly.
Neither was Tony Clark. Or Tad. Or Callix. It's a slap in my boys face.

I've got a funny feeling...
...This project's greater purpose is to ridicule the notion of a "clutch" player.  I'll for it.

I thought
Clutch hitting didn't exist. I think Sandy feels the same.

Quit living in the 90s
Read "The Book" by Tom Tango and others. Clutch hitting does exist. It's just so small that it's usually not relevant (i.e. a bad Adrian Gonzalez in the clutch is still better than a clutch Termel Sledge). Take the better hitter, not the clutch hitter.
