Headley optioned to AAA

McAnulty will get the 5th outfield spot (along with Giles/Hairston/Edmonds/Gerut). Makes sense to give him a bunch of innings in Portland in the outfield before throwing him in the mix up here, not to mention that if McAnulty gets some shots due to injury or performance he becomes better trade fodder. While it's a bummer that we won't have him to use and see every once in a while from the start of the season (and I've blown a fantasy baseball roster spot), it's a move of patience that should pay off.

Edmonds is pretty much set to go from the start of the season, apparently...does Hairston get that job outright, or do you guys expect Gerut to get some ABs from a bit more flexible Bud Black?

I'm sorry....
Maybe I'm just really down on the guy...but does any one in the GLB actually believe Edmonds is going to be standing in centerfield of Petco Park on March 31st at 7:05pm?

4 OF
Even if Jimbo is ready to go openning day or soon after, I see a four outfielder rotation as likely.

No Jimbo on Opening Day
The only way I see him out there is if he's assisted by the use of a cane, crutches or a wheelchair.

Too Optimistic??

Edmonds won't be there opening day and I'm not even "down on the guy"
I almost like the fact he won't be there off the bat.
Why?
Because I am interested in what these other guys can do:
Gerut and McAnulty are like Rookies with another shot.
Hairston seemed to win our love at the end of last season and I think we want to see him do well and fight to keep the spot.

Maybe I'm just too optimistic but even if we don't see a break through, I'm pretty sure Headley is a sure thing!
