Problems with mangement?

There's an article in the UT today which states that Becky Moores just filed for divorce: http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/padres/20080206-9999-1s6moores.html

The article is somewhat ambiguous and is unsure how, if at all, this move impacts the Padres. You can be sure that Moores won't be exceeding his budget (which I don't really mind since it's the reality of our market size), but I wonder if this means that there might be a sale of the team at some point?

Anyone with business or family law experience out there? How might this proceeding affect the team?

How to split the Padres
The funny thing about the Padres is that the value in the team is in the equity. I'm not sure if the Padres operate in the black. I'm almost positive that they've been working in the red since the new ballpark. If she wants a piece of the Padres, then wouldn't she have to throw her own money into it?

Maybe they'll go public. I'd buy a share just to have the certificate on the wall.

I suspect you're right
The team's financial situation is always a point of contention, but I believe that although Moores is making a killing off of JMI, the Padres are not a source of revenue for him.

Either way, should be interesting to see what happens.

Nice
Maybe she will get the Friar too, and then the Padres can get the Chicken back.

Maybe!
Ya know how some newfound bachelors go crazy, have that big midlife crisis where they buy the sports car, an authentic 1957 Les Paul, and convert their garage into a game room?

Maybe John will do that...spend $51m on a one-year contract for Bonds...blow $29m/10 years on Tony Clark, then put him in AA San Antonio for the next decade just to make Chris Young feel safer...pick up Mark Sweeney and Tim Flannery again and have a "Hair Club For Men" month where each guy's progress is charted along the outfield wall from left foul pole to right foul pole, and the winner gets a new Maserati...

I'm just brainstorming here, but you get the drift...the possibilities are endless.
