The Padres are unbelievably boring
BOOOOOORRRRINNG.
I'm so amazingly bored with the Padres. It's shifted from boredom on the field to annoyance with the front office and now back to boredom again. It's terrifyingly bad.
DO SOMETHING.
"Oh we gotta get rid of Peavy... Oh Trevor's gonna go someplace else... Oh there's a divorce... Oh give us credit for the winning seasons before the 99 losses... Oh why don't fans like us... Oh wahwahwah..."
I wish something would just happen already. Trade Peavy. Get him out of here. Lemme see what we're gonna work with next season. Get Trevor out of here or don't. Just make sure I'm entertained.
WHY AM I NOT ENTERTAINED!?!?!?!
Yes. It's about me. Greater good? I'll go volunteer time and donate money to a charity. Sports? It's about ME. ME. ME. ME.
C'mon Padres. Do something entertaining. PLEASE.

I met him in the tunnel once at the Murph
he was nice to me, maybe one of the only players who made eye contact and waved. Oh, and Tony, of course.

Strange
I specifically ask players to not make eye contact with me.

XM MLB Radio
I been listening the last few days to all the hotstove stuff and the only thing I heard mentioned about the my team “Man the Padres sure fell off the face of the earth”….pretty much sums it up.

Adrian Gonzalez - potential most ABs with no SBs, ever
Over 2,200 at-bats, and zero stolen bases.
Cue debate over stolen bases.

How much does A. Gonzalez make?
Why aren’t they trading him away for a bunch of young prospects too?

I'm guessing
Because in his four full years as a pro, he’s made a hair over $2 million, and is still team controlled, and maybe, just maybe break a million this year. Keeping him costs the Padres very little, and not factoring in Peavy, he’s the team’s biggest star, and he hits home runs, which people go yay over.

It must suck
To read that guys like Frank Thomas, David Ortiz and Bengie Molina have more SBs than he does.
$10 says Adrian will attempt a real steal in 2009.

I'm perfectly fine with that.
Career:
Frank Thomas: 32 stolen bases to 23 caught stealing
Bengie Molina: 3 stolen to 10 caught
Papi: 10 stolen to 3 caught
Ortiz is the only one with an acceptable rate (77%). Other than that, I’ll take not stealing bases to trying and sucking.
I wish we’d just trade Peavy already so we could start a post on our 2009 roster/lineup/rotation projections. Until we know what we get in return for Jake (besides lower ticket sales) it’s impossible to even guess what parts of this team will look like next April.

A few weeks ago I heard Adrian Gonzalez say that he’s never stolen a base because he doesn’t want to, that pitcher’s don’t even look to the base to try a pickoff attempt.
He proceeded to say that he could steal 5 bases a season if he wanted to just because pitchers don’t focus on him and said that he once stole 3 bases off Yadier Molina in the minor leagues. And whilst I don’t know where (or if it’s possible) to find that exact information, BR says that he had a 58 SB% in the minor leagues.

If Maddog steals a base
then Adrian can, too.

Adrian Gonzalez could be Ricky Henderson
for all we know… but it wouldn’t matter because the Padres brass doesn’t value, promote, seek, attempt or stop stolen bases.
i think stolen bases equates to some sort of athleticism… probably why we have 2 starting third basemen, a first baseman without a single steal, and a farm system full of guys like paul mcanulty and jack cust.

Braves just traded a small ransom for Javier Vasquez
Is Frank Wren that nuts or is KT/Sandy that damn incompetent?

Neither
The Braves gave up a blocked AAA shortstop who can’t hit, one of our headcase AAAA pitchers, and one promising power-hitting catcher who hasn’t played above A-level for a mediocre pitcher, and a LOOGY. I can’t find any real confirmation on the exact names yet, but the bottom line is that the Braves losing either Jo-Jo Reyes or Charlie Morton and getting Javier Vasquez, is sadly a slight upgrade.
Bad thing is, Flowers was a shiny chip in the Peavy trade rumors, so either there’s going to be another fustercluck of player speculation, or the Braves and Padres are pretty much done.

I think the Braves and Pads are pretty much done.
There has been talk that Peavy will not approve the trade to the braves because they will not give him a full NTC.
