What sucked most for the Padres in 2008?
As we approach the end of 2008, I just want to identify the single worst thing that happened to the Padres this year.
If I forgot any in the poll leave a comment and if it is significant then I'll add it.

Hmmm
There were some good Greg Maddux moments. (Milestones, stolen bases, etc.)
I remember having a lot of fun with the singles jokes when the Padres couldn’t get extra base hits (that was this year right?)
EGon and AGon in the same infield.
Headley’s performance at Yankee Stadium.
I was going to say the shutout by Josh Banks, but that gets canned because no one could see it.
Any Hoffman save.
Opening day win vs the Astros.
Adrian’s homer in the 18th inning to beat Dusty Baker’s and 3/5 of his rotation.
Sweeping the Mets in 4 games, including 3 2-1 victories, a 10th inning walkoff HR by Scott Hairston and a GW 3 run HR by Tony Clark in the final game.
The OT during the 22 inning game.
I ♥ Trent Edwards' groin

I was gonna say
do we have to focus on the negative? We’ve been hearing all negative news the entire offseason, we should try to keep it more positive from now on.

focus on the positive?
what if there’s no positives? do you just want to close your eyes? that’s fascist!
• Adrian Gonzalez’s game-tying RBI sac fly in the All-Star game off of Jonathan Papelbon which resulted in a rain of boos to the overrated Red Socks pitcher.
• The Padres and Nationals locked up for 15 innings in Washington DC in a battle of who could be the worst team in the majors while all the west coast games ended earlier, causing the out of town scoreboard to reset.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Depressing
I wish I could vote for all of them, but I chose cutting payroll. Although the divorce and 99 losses may have been better choices…
I can’t think of any ‘best of’ things off the top of my head, but if you can come up with just as many of those as you did for the ‘things that sucked’ then I’ll be impressed.
I'm not in denial, I'm just selective about the reality I choose to accept.
Watching Pujols
decimate our forward battery was easily the most gut-wrenching thing this season. None of the other things had as much blood.

Matty is a popular guy
Also, for all of the outrage expressed here over the Hoffman thing, it gets the least amount of votes?

There's your measure
of how bad this season actually was.

Love Matty. Miss Matty. I want to cry looking at this list.
Capri. Denial. It's a sweet sweet place; come join me....
I picked
Matty leaving because if the Padres lose 90 games or more next season, I would rather Matty narrate that kind of season than anyone else. Of course, I would rather he narrate any season of any kind than any other announcer.
Matty and Mud were excellent during lean seasons
Yellow cards. Having the camera guys pan around looking for flags. That stuff used to crack me up.
yeah the khalil thing left off of there
that whole series of storage chest punch leading to peaceout was a bummer.
Throw in the team going
after him for the recuperation as well. His whole season was a mess this year. A depressing, chaotic mess.
We could have a Worst Khalil category by itself

Increase of Beer Price???
at least the Padres could provide cheap liquor as I watch all this unfold.

I think we should go back even further to '07
to the game in which Cameron and Bradley both were injured. That started this whole chain reaction. Then there was Trevor blowing it against Milwaukee, game 163, etc. etc……then this year former pitching coach Dave Smith died & that little kid who was on the Padres in Little League killed himself. You could add the whole Wally Joyner fiasco….or even almost all of our minor league pitchers needing TJ surgery.
