Bond, Barry Bonds

The Padres are shaving 30 million off payroll.  Our highest paid player has made it obvious he's excited to leave town.  Our next highest paid player beats pregnant women.  Outside of Gonzalez, what power do we really have?  what experience and depth do have in the outfield?  And if we chose to address the outfield, what money do we have?

enter- Barry Bonds

He likes San Diego, will play for minimum wage and will donate the money to charity.  The Friars could easily spin it into a positive for the team and community.  It will address, interleague DH, late inning pinch hitting, and defensive sub once or twice a week.  Playing for minimum means he has a a grudge to pick and something to prove so you know he'll play hard and work better with the media.  He brings endless media attention to a team the is going to need it.  You know the Yankees will hate how the Bonds' HR got more attention than Sabathia's 10k's.

My point is WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOSE?

Barry Bonds + Roids = homerun king

Brian Giles + Roids = Chris Benoit

Agreed

Padres + Barroids=
 worst effing chemistry EVAR.

A swirling vortex would open up under the Padres dugout and suck it down to hell.

Aren't we just missing the handbasket right now?

You're right

We will literally lose all credibility if we sign bonds….
Bonds is what will finally do us in….
not blowing off hoffman
not publicly making a soap opera out of a 60year old’s divorce
not having no loyalty from our ace
not trading away our stolen base leader from July 08 to our rival….(a 40+yr old pitcher)
not having 9hr’s from 5 different catchers
not choosing Edmonds over Milton Bradley or Mike Cameron
not loosing Matty V because we suck so hard
not bribing people to show up with dollar hot dogs

you’re right…..Barry Bonds is what would ruin our credibility.

he is a pretty damn good ballplayer.

something we have been lacking for a few seasons. His knee had a whole year to rest, and you know he is out there on the track running. 125-135 games … why not?

600 HR’s, as a padre. why not?

Another Direction

we could just sign Satan. I heard he would play the San Diego discount just to be reunited with his 245th son (Sandy Alderson). Plus he can hit a slider.

he can

he just not aggressive enough, doesn’t have that killer instinct. So he never swings the bat, but his OBP is still 7.7777, not sure how he does that.

Would the Padres or the city

be responsible for the cost of upgrading Petco to accommodate Barry’s head? The upside could be the team would save alittle cash now that they would have a use for all those huge leftover Bochy caps.

I vote for Satan.

The frickin' dodgers didn't even retire his number!
