Is Peavy a product of Petco Park?
As Peavy trade talks continue, Rob Neyer writes an Interesting article on Peavy and his Petco numbers versus road numbers.
I say of course his numbers are slightly better, but who's shouldn't be in a pitcher friendly park. But pitcher friendly park or not, a K is K. Yeah, he'll give up more homers, but at least you know you're getting a pitcher who's not going to strain his ribcage (again).

99 strikeouts at home, 67 away
White jerseys are playing more of a factor than anything.
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

Neyer hates the Padres
I really like Neyer’s articles, but he does have a bias against the Padres. He will even contradict himself, like saying Padres pitchers are only good b/c of PETCO, but the Padres hitters are just bad and the park has nothing to do with it. He made the same argument when we played at the Q.
"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day. " ~Frank Sinatra
Strikeouts are affected by park. PetCo is a good strikeout park.
Bolts from the Blue // People who have time on their hands will inevitably waste the time of people who have work to do.
I am not so sure of that
I think it is just that the Padres have had good pitching, and also a high strikeout lineup.
Therefore, many games at Petco have high strikeout numbers.
There are ways to correct for that
If that were the case then these same players would strikeout just as often on the road, but they don’t. Some ballparks aren’t as easy as others to pick up the ball so they lead to more strikeouts. Petco Park is one of them. It’s not a huge factor, but its there.

2008 Padres
hitters
H: 3073 PA, 620Ks
A: 3171 PA, 639Ks
pitchers
H: 762 IP, 589Ks
A: 696 IP, 511Ks
You are selectively sampling here
You are only choosing the 2008 Padres, but the stadium has been open for 5 years. You also didn’t include any numbers for other teams. Also, this stuff has already been calculated, I’m sure if you did some internet digging you could find the park factor for Petco Park’s strikeouts. This really isn’t a point I’d care to argue, it’s already been proven.

In some instances it might be true,
A pitcher might be more likely to challenge a hitter in a spacious park.
But I think a bigger factor is the Padres having strikeout pitchers and high strikeout hitters.
Yes,.......
But their road strikeouts get divided up amongst many different parks.
Neyer is also the genius
who suggested that Josh Bard got hurt because he tried to block Pujols to save his manhood, and not, say, because he’s a catcher and that’s his job. For someone who is supposed to be so smart, he says some things sometimes that make you wonder if he ever watches baseball.
Padres till the bitter end
he says that about ...
every catcher in that situation. So it wasn’t a Padres bias thing.
