Trevor Hoffman wants to meet with Padres owner John Moores and CEO Sandy Alderson before he and his agent respond directly to the one-year, $4 million offer the Padres made four weeks ago, Hoffman's agent said Thursday.

"Trevor would like to talk to them about the direction of the team and whatever his role is," said Hoffman's longtime agent, Rick Thurman.

Thurman said he is disappointed the Padres haven't responded to the request, which he said came 12 days ago.
