Wow, what did I say in that interview on XX that makes me a d-bag? Some constructive criticism or insight from SDPads_1, other than just being a d-bag would be welcomed.

I’d just consider the source.

Here's my contructive criticism
With all due respect Scan it hardly had anything to do with that particular interview it’s more so every single time I watch you on TV or listen to you do interviews on the radio you give off an arrogance as if you are some 300 game winner with an almighty knowledge of the game and you are better than everyone else. Yes you are a former player I get that and that’s awesome but I’m just not a fan. I swear I feel like I’m listening to the Donald Trump of San Diego baseball, with the exception that your hair is much prettier. Don’t feel bad because I’m not a fan of Weisbarth or Quis either. Maybe I’m the problem and I’m just bitter that Matty V is leaving or maybe it’s the fact that you were once a Cub….who knows. I know not everyone is going to feel the same as I do and that’s expected. But that is my explanation as to why I think you are a d-bag.

ad hominem?
To be fair, the best analysts aren’t wishy washy. Better for Scan to lay it out there than be like, “Well, the Padres might’ve been good if they did this, but then again they might not have been good, but then again…”
Scan does have great hair.

Pulling the D-bag card is a bit harsh fellas. I usually reserve it for people I know well enough to make that judgement, like old bosses, girlfriends dads etc… The guy has to go on TV every night after watching a turd of a baseball team and talk about what they are doing wrong and right… that hardly makes him a d-bag. Being an ex Cub is about as close as you can get though….

does have a point with being a cub….I like Scan, I don’t always agree with him, but he does give analysis. There are so many baseball guys that use so many words to say absolutely nothing.
The hair is awesome.

Thank you to those of you who enjoy some of what I have to say during the course of the 162 game season, and for the kind words you’ve shared. Thanks also to you, SDPads-1, for stepping up and at least explaining your disdain for me. I can live with that. I certainly don’t feel bad, nor expect everyone to agree with my takes, or to like my style of delivery. I certainly don’t claim to know it all, and no one does – not even the 300 game winners. In fact some of the worst coaches and analysts are guys who had the most magnificent careers. In many cases they were so physically gifted that they just walked on the field and played better than anyone else, but never really understood why. In other cases they may have been students of the game, but not great communicators. In any case, I’m not embarrassed by my career or what I had to put in to be able to compete at the highest level. I try to share as honestly as I can what I see happening in the games, the organizations, with individual players, or specific plays based on my 20 years of professional experiences. It is not my intent to come off as arrogant or better than anyone else – in fact I give credit to opposing views and have often acknowledged my mistakes, bad scouting reports, missed predictions, etc. My primary loyalty and responsibility is to the game of baseball, and I do my best to report on it as honestly, objectively and respectfully as I can. I appreciate all of the input I receive here and through “HeyScan”, both positive and negative, and try to apply it to make our broadcasts on channel 4 as entertaining and informative as possible.
Respectfuly,
Scan

Fairweather is right
Pulling the d-bag card was a little out of line. I apologize for that.

But...
If you hadn’t pulled the card, who knows if Scan would’ve responded? Everybody’s a winner!

Well said
Maybe I’m good for business here at Gaslamp Ball. Who would you like me to target next?
It’s weird I’ve gotten into some classic arguments with people that have appeared on TV, movies or radio multiple times in the past. My favorite was the back and forth e-mailing with Dane Cook in which he said I live a sorry life and wished harm upon myself. I responded with he is already causing harm on me by making lousy movie after lousy movie while stealing all his material from other comics. I feel I won that battle because he stopped e-mailing me after that.

All the best during the holiday season to all Padre fans and Gas Lamp Bloggers! Even the ones that think I’m a d-bag.

You never answer what we really want to know
Do you use egg whites in your hair?

Hair Products
No, I do not use egg whites in my hair, nor the products popularized by the movie There’s Something About Mary. Channel 4 actually sent me to Trump Plaza in Atlantic City to attend the Donald Trump Academy of Coiffure. There we learned all the tricks – the comb over (mastered by the Donal himself), the saliva repair (for troublesome cowlicks in the middle of a show), and the artificial turf play (1 can of hair colored spray included!). As all potential students must do, I signed a confidentiality agreement before taking the courses, so I can’t divulge all the secrets. Besides, I didn’t even finish at the top of the class – that distinction would go to my partner John Weisbarth. Mud was sent home early. Sorry, Sammy G…another myth busted.
