First fo all,,, GET A LIFE!!!! Jayson Werth is a talented ball player. He can play right, left and center feild with confidence, He can hit well and run with speeds that only few can compare!!! Oh and he steals bases with attempt/succcess rates that are up to par with the Best in the game. I also might add that the few times I have seen him interviewed, he has been VERY humble, even when he has outstanding sucess at the plate. I truly think he is a role model for children everywhere. Kudos to his Family for raising such a FINE young man, Thanks Cathie from Pa.

Jayson Werth is single handedly responsible for the Credit Market's Meltdown...

So says Henry M. Paulson in the upcoming issue of “The Economist.”

Paul Lo Duca is MLB's Pablo Escobar..

Werth is at the heart of many evils

The full extent of which is no doubt being suppressed by a vast conspiracy, at great cost to the Pennsylvania taxpayers and by extension, the universe at large.

Unconfirmed reports have tied Werth to the 3rd season of “Lost,” the imminent release of “Chinese Democracy,” and the demolition of Shea Stadium.

Well, 1 out of 3 ain’t pure evil, I guess.

God, I love this so much

I wish there was some way we could move that old post into a regular sidebar item so we could read the new posts every time Jayson Werth’s dad logs in under a fake name and posts something.

Leave Werth alone...

The guy had a great game last night.

by Drama on Oct 24, 2008 6:52 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I love watching the WS

just because every time Werth is mentioned, I laugh about the post on Gaslamp..and the email from his illiterate step dad.

Nice error last night Werth-Less (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha)

by thenerdhater on Oct 24, 2008 7:26 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Last night

While the error was awesome…I really enjoyed him getting doubled-up hanging off of first base on Utley’s liner to right. That was so great. The look on his face was priceless.

It's amazing

How stuff like this makes a person actually pay attention to an otherwise mediocre player more often.

The way he sets up for his batting stance, and the way he strokes the bat while lowering his arms is kind of creepy, but then again he looks like as much as a wife-beating psychopath as Brett Myers does.

And him getting doubled up was pretty funny too.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Not his stepdad...

it was his biological deadbeat dad (whose son doesn’t even want his last name).

"I truly think he is a role model for children everywhere"

Yeah, with the ever-present lump of dip in his lower lip he’s a great role model. I know Tony did it too, but it’s one of my pet peeves about baseball players in general. Seriously, though every time I see Werth I picture him saying “Her first baby came out sideways, and she didn’t scream or nothin’.”

If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly

Totally agree on the dip

Foulest habit ever and it’s just so dumb.

by Winfield's Ghost on Oct 24, 2008 1:19 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Definitely.

I tried it in a game once when I was 12. I was like “Eff that; I’ll just wait til after the game to smoke”.

I have no problem with Jayson Werth.

I still retain all my membership privileges, right?

You guys realize,

you’re ridiculing a person acting like a jackass defending Jayson Werth from a person acting like a jackass attacking Werth, right?

Space.

It's a problem we face.

So we never go anywhere.

We just stay in one place.

I think you're missing the context

I wrote that piece way back when I heckled Jayson Werth after he showboated at the crowd despite his dismal play at the plate. He was also a member of the Dodgers at the time, which made his behavior even more ridiculously annoying. I’m pretty sure I admit in the post that I was probably being crazy. Since that was written, there’s been a series of really inane comments written by his family and friends defending him.

Or maybe you do get the context and you’re calling me a jackass. In which case, touché.

I guess I'm just confused as to why this is a discussion.

Do you ever read the National Enquirer?

Or watch Entertainment Tonight? Think about Gaslampball as being the sports blog equivalent of these cultural phenomenons.
Talking sh*t about Werth is fun. Simply put, that is the reason for this discussion.

Actually I'd say edit your statement

and just say this “Think about Gaslampball as being a sports blog”

by jbox on Oct 24, 2008 8:52 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Gaslampball is great entertainment

and at the same time, it’s an educated, up-to-date forum for discussion of the one thing we all love, the Padres .

…but what I like best about GLB is the diverse group of Padres fans who comment here… punk rockers, jocks, teenagers, engineers, new yorkers, nerds, alcoholics, artists, dads and moms, people like Drama, foreigners from far away places, dudes from PB, etc. etc.

Culturally phenomenal guys. Keep up the good work.

Define "people like Drama"

Because I’m unable to agree or disagree with your statement until I know how you define that.

What?

You think the rest of us are being “productive” here? If anyone here isn’t wasting their time, I’d love to hear how that works.

I just wasted the last half hour here.

Sigh… my girlfriend’s gonna be pissed when she finds out that I haven’t accomplished anything yet today.

by The Kipper on Oct 25, 2008 11:41 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

get a life?

they are the one that bothers defending a pro athlete. Jayson Werth is a big boy that can handle anyone hating him… and if its even the smallest bit upsetting i’m sure his paycheck helps him forget all about it.

No one that hates him is going to change their mind because someone tells them he is talented and humble…

or better yet the other posts that say he is gorgeous… yea thats a good reason not to heckle an opposing player…

Well

The Werthless piece of crap just got picked off of second in the bottom of the 8th in a key situation.

But yeah, he’s a good player that plays hard!

I went nuts!

I was yelling “Eff yeah! Get on the bench, you effin’ meth baby!” and whatnot at the TV. Good times.

What would

Werth need to do at this point to win over Gaslamp Ball?

Rescue an abandoned litter of kittens?
Adopt 10 orphans?
Cease world hunger?
Kill Bin Laden?
Stop an asteroid heading for Earth?
