Padres want Maddux as player/coach
Padres interested in Maddux as a player/coach
This is so rad. Hell let him manage!
Kevin Towers talked to Greg Maddux before he was traded to the Dodgers about possibly becoming a player/coach. Towers suspects Maddux might choose to retire instead.
"He would be outstanding in that role," Towers said, "but I don't see it happening. We never made an (official) offer but just asked if he'd have interest in something like that."
...and what did he say when you asked him? They missed the most important part of the story.

Bring back Mad-Dog
If peavy goes, padres should be forced to sign maddux so that we have someone to come see every 5th day, even if it is for only 60 pitches.
Or, even as the bench coach, that would be soo sweet. He would accept as long as he could still wear a glove while sittin on the bench.

For the record, this is not my attempt to imply subtly that Belichick is nothing without cheating and Tom Brady. Seriously. I am straight-out saying: Belichick is nothing without cheating and Tom Brady ~ DJ Gallo

That would be the coolest thing ever
but if he doesn’t think Maddux would actually choose to do that why put the info out there and mess with our heads

Isn't that what he was already doing?
I thought him pitching every 5th was just a distraction to keep him from realizing that he was really just a coach….

Greg Maddux
Why would Greg Maddux want to resign with the Padres even though they traded him to division rival the Dodgers. If the Padres want to have a number 5 starter, they should try to sign someone like Derek Lowe or Jamie Moyer and move one of their starters to the number 5 spot.
