re: Volunteering?
I would expect a reasonable wage.

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:04 PM PDT up reply actions

er, I mean, free legal services
I'm a poor law student.  I can't afford to get drunk, let alone pay someone a wage.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:26 PM PDT up reply actions

You had a good point about football
60 minutes = 4 hours.

It seems like every 10 seconds there is another commercial.

by padresgirlforlife44 on Sep 9, 2007 12:04 PM PDT up reply actions

lol
Football is waayyy to arbitrary too. I know that umpires can affect a game in baseball with bad calls, but it's nothing like the clusterfuck that football games are.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:06 PM PDT up reply actions

You are right there.
Major league umpires are often far more competent than NFL referees- it makes football really really frustrating sometimes.

by JBro12 on Sep 9, 2007 12:08 PM PDT up reply actions

Don't forget....
....cuter players in baseball.

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:06 PM PDT up reply actions

AND
you can actually see how much cuter the players are in baseball, as opposed to football with all that gear.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:13 PM PDT up reply actions

I think I'd enjoy it more
if I ever had the chance to go to a game in person.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:12 PM PDT up reply actions

I dunno
Football is seriously made for TV. I feel like you miss out on too much watching football live. On the other hand, watching baseball live lets you see so much more that you can't get on TV.

by Dex on Sep 9, 2007 12:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Fogg working quickly
Hopefully another quick Padres win.

Ugh, Briles Ks much too often in those situations.

Let's go Marcus!!!

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:07 PM PDT reply actions

Some close pitches
going our way in Marcus' AB.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:08 PM PDT reply actions

Welcome back Marcus!
Cammy with a bunt single!

by JBro12 on Sep 9, 2007 12:08 PM PDT reply actions

Well done
little Giles. Keep it going boys!

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:09 PM PDT reply actions

I love Marcus...
I'm pretty alone in that....but I love that little f*cker.

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:10 PM PDT reply actions

I don't know how to stop
loving him.  I kow the numbers tell one story, but my heart tells another....

Damn
warning track power

by JBro12 on Sep 9, 2007 12:12 PM PDT reply actions

Damn
Just missed that. He drilled that too.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:13 PM PDT reply actions

That guy
looked very relieved to have caught that ball

by padresgirlforlife44 on Sep 9, 2007 12:13 PM PDT reply actions

Making good contact though..
He pissed on that line drive foul ball and nearly hit one out. I think he might just have a good day at the plate.

by JBro12 on Sep 9, 2007 12:15 PM PDT reply actions

Any day
at Coors is a good day for Khalil.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:16 PM PDT up reply actions

with the expanded roster
they aren't putting anyong on the DL.  But he is injured.  Damn muscle that cannot be named.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Seriously.
We might as well cut out the middleman and have a (redacted muscle name) specialist on staff.

Tony is doing the Braves game
I guess he's going to be part of the playoff coverage on TBS, so they're working him into the telecasts. Kind of weird to hear him talking about a game the Padres aren't involved in.
Padres for life

by sdgaucho on Sep 9, 2007 12:17 PM PDT reply actions

I love hearing Tony
do games. He could talk about hot-dog eating contests and I'd watch.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Uh-oh
Barrett's starting. Come on CY, get it done.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:21 PM PDT reply actions

Barrett, wee giles, Enz
and Hormel...and one run down...uh oh is right.

by planetjeffy on Sep 9, 2007 12:24 PM PDT up reply actions

CY's
thrown a bunch of pitches this inning already.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:22 PM PDT reply actions

Okay
the whole "you can run on Barrett/Bard" conversation is not interesting anymore.  Neither is my responsive "it's at least half the pitcher's fault" response.  Grrr.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:23 PM PDT reply actions

If it makes you feel better..
You are 100% correct. No catcher can throw good basestealers out if the pitcher A) doesnt look over every once in a while, and B) mix in a slide step delivery to the plate

by JBro12 on Sep 9, 2007 12:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Damn
Stupid stolen bases. That ball was almost stopped too.

Cannot put guys on CY, you cannot do this.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:23 PM PDT reply actions

Chris Young
I guess he doesn't want to play in the postseason.

by Dex on Sep 9, 2007 12:27 PM PDT reply actions

Here we go again
CY cannot be starting anymore. He needs to figure it out.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:27 PM PDT reply actions

CY IS HURT.
DO THEY THINK WE'RE STUPID???

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:28 PM PDT reply actions

No kidding
eh? I don't know what it is, but CY has got to get straightened out.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Clarification:
They: Buddy, KT, Balsley, the trainers...

We: Padre fans and opposing teams.

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:31 PM PDT up reply actions

how dare you!
how dare you group me in with opposing teams? ain't no "we" about that!

by Dex on Sep 9, 2007 12:36 PM PDT up reply actions

Not to mention
CY - high fastball flyball pitcher - plus Coors field - equals homeruns.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Except
that CY pitched amazingly at Coors in the past. He's just not right yet.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I always felt like THIS
was always waiting to happen.

Still, if he were 100%, it would be different.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:31 PM PDT up reply actions

steve quis
is an idiot.

"I dont think well se any more homeruns in this series becasuse of the wind"

I knew that was gonna happen. You cant say things like that

by padresgirlforlife44 on Sep 9, 2007 12:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Right before the home run
He said we would probably not see another HR this series because of the wind. Next pitch, boom.

by sdgaucho on Sep 9, 2007 12:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Very glad..now he just has to put him in

by padresgirlforlife44 on Sep 9, 2007 12:29 PM PDT reply actions

CY needs to take like
a week and get straightened out. I know that we need him to be successful, but we need a healthy CY, not somebody that is conspicously missing location and giving up dingers.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:31 PM PDT reply actions

so what was that?
like a 45 pitch inning?
"i kinda feel like nevin and klesko were some fling we (the padres) had in the past and now realize were a bad idea and are embarrassed about."

This game is definitely not out of reach
but the Padres have their work cut out for them.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:35 PM PDT reply actions

on the upside
we LIKE hitting at Coors.  The guys just need to settle in, get comfy, and go for it.

by Demoira on Sep 9, 2007 12:36 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah
It would be huge if we could pick up CY today. We really do need to win this game, too.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:37 PM PDT up reply actions

How far back do we have to be...
...before we stop with the split-squad Sundays? I get why Barrett and Marcus are playing...but Blum should be in LF and Kouz should be at third.

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:37 PM PDT reply actions

Agreed
have we won any of the Sunday games where we've done this?

I got some new video games this weekend so that's how I'll be spending my time. I'll check in occasionally.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:39 PM PDT up reply actions

I'll give it another
half inning. That was just not an inspiring frame by the Padres.

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Look at our last four batters:
Ensberg
Barrett
Sledge
CY

See any hits in there? BTW - If we gave the Astros more than a warm six pack of Natty Light for Morgan Ensberg...we got screwed.

by Drama on Sep 9, 2007 12:42 PM PDT up reply actions

when i saw
the line up today, i had to roll my eyes. i feel like this is a gimme game.

I thought you were a good hitting catcher?

by Phantom on Sep 9, 2007 12:38 PM PDT reply actions

Fogg 1-2-3
Pathetic.  I'm not even going to accept the "second string" excuse.  There are no excuses at this point in the series.

Bat.  Ball.  Connect.  Run.  Score.

I am so pissed off right now
