...and here's why.
I had already met him on GLB night when he showed at Tony up with free water for the group. So when I had a complicated seating situation involving stolen seats and me not wanting to be a prick on GLB night, I noticed Andre like 20 feet away, and I was pretty sure he would help me out, knowing that I am a Gaslamp Baller.
I approached Andre, explained my situation, and asked him for a move, and he said "Sure. Is there anywhere in particular you would like to sit?" I wanted to be polite (not kick a gift in the mouth and ask to sit right behind home plate or anything) and said "no, whatever you can get is fine."
So we left, and I got a mini-Pad Squad Interview in on the way. I asked if he reads GLB regularly, and he answered yes. I asked if he knew that the picture of him and Jonny Dub was bound to appear on the front page at some point, and to answer, he asked me if that was a good thing.
Andre got like 10 feet ahead of me at one point- he walks really fast (I guess he had important Pad Squad business to attend to). One particular usher was being a dick as I was following Andre to the upgraded seats, and tried to hassle me because I had no tickets for the section I was following Andre into. I told him we were with Andre, but he had gotten ahead of me, and of course the usher thought I was lying to sneak in. The usher's clever comeback was "So what? I don't care", but Andre returned to put the usher in his place, and we were escorted without further problems to seats down the third base line.
So Andre, thanks again for the seats, and know that you have my vote for GLB's Pad Squadder of the Year Award (if I even get a vote, haha.)
