Pitcher Jack Cassel will likely be a Padre tomorrow

Channel 4's Steve Quis reports that Portland Beaver Pitcher Jack Cassel is with the San Diego Padres and will likely be added to the big league roster tomorrow.

Will Ledezma is going to be on a strict pitch count in his first start as a Padre and it is likely that Cassel will be brought up to back up Ledezma.

A roster move to make room from Cassel may not be necessary because of Scott Hairston's oblique injury.  The Padres will wait 24 hours and then likely place Hairston on the disabled list unless there is improvement to his condition.

Update [2007-8-9 23:40:3 by jbox]:
Gaslamp Baller jburtrum1 reminds us of Brocail's bereavement.

Padres.com:

The Padres will be without the services of relief pitcher Doug Brocail for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven days starting Friday as he will be placed on the bereavement list for unspecified reasons.

The Padres will likely recall 27-year-old right-handed pitcher Jack Cassel from Triple-A Portland to take Brocail's place.

Cassel, who was Portland's lone representative in the Triple-A All-Star Game, had a 7-11 record with a 3.54 ERA for the Beavers in 24 games (21 starts).

bereavement leave. I think that's the move.

I slept wonderfully
Thank you for breakfast.  I thought the splash of pomegranate juice in the tangerine juice was simply brilliant.  However, I much prefer marionberry jam with my toast.  The apple butter just isn't the same.

Consider it done.
I had a feeling about the jam, but I didn't want to hurt TTG's feelings. You know how proud he is of his apple butter. Don't forget - tomorrow is Saturday. Mimosas with just a touch of raspberry puree at the bottom. Eggs Benedict over Grilled Prosciutto. Maybe some fresh pineapple and mango?

You are heaven sent
Pineapple and mango?  Yes - with strawberries if they are wonderfully fresh.  Otherwise, it's perfect with or without.

And, TTG, the apple butter was wonderful.  I'm just not Kory.

Man!
Just a few days ago I was at a closeout clothes store and found a Red Sox #29 Hillenbrand shirt. You know I bought that em-effer, too...

Nope.
I used it as a halfway-through-the-first good luck charm. We won that game, so I guess it was worth the money.

Reminds Me
I saw a blurb in the Sunday Union-Tribune about Scott Linebrink returning to the Brewers after so-many days' bereavement leave.

I thought the worst, but then did some Googling and found out it was just to be with his wife, who had just given birth.  Apparently everything was fine (Congrats, Scott!), but I always thought "bereavement" was a BAD thing, usually death-in-the-family kind of stuff.  Not necessarily, I guess.  (I hope this is the case for Doug B., anyway.)

Bereavement
Yup.  Being in a state of loss.  Makes you think twice about having kids.
