Moores wants big star so he can make more money

I was reading on Padres.com they have an article about how Barry is drawing huge crowds for the weekend and making the stadium tons of money.  This may have finally led Moores to the realization that we need a big superstar of our own to draw crowds....

"I noticed," John Moores, the Padres' majority owner, told MLB.com during the course of his team's 4-3, 10-inning victory. "We need to go out and get a big-name player to give this franchise some financial stability."

Thats a good sign at least, the first step of recovery is admitting you have a problem. Moores may be finally starting to realize we need a big name huge star that can draw fans and make this team amazing.  Hopefully he can keep thinking this way until the off season and make it come true. Time for Johnny to open up his wallet and go crazy.

I would love to see Johan Santana
in a Padres uniform (free agent at the end of the year), but Moores is likely speaking of an everyday position player, maybe a CF if they don't resign Cameron?

Johan Santana
Santana is a free agent at the end of the 2008 season.

Don't apologize for dreaming.
Adding that guy to our rotation wouldn't even be fair.

BIG name free agents
The only really BIG name free agents available at the end of this season are Alex Rodriquez and Andruw Jones.

By "big-name player" he probably means
guys like Jason Saltalamacchia and John Van Benschoten. We've already picked up Shea Hillenbrand...
Ah, for the days that we complained about our two hit victories...

He'd bring a fanbase.

Another reason I love this place.
Any place you find Tobias Fünke quoted is a place I want to hangout in.

nah...
I say we go after Neifi Perez, once he comes back from his 80-game suspension for stimulant use.

I think he means spending more on marketing
Making Khalil and Kouz and A-Go into superstars.

Superstar
Interesting article in today's NY Times on why the Padres decided to pass on Bonds in the off-season.

Milton Bradley
Milton Bradley did an interview before last night's game and ripped Billy Beane a new one.

Doesn't pull any punches, does he?

I really like that guy.

and I don't know how I feel
about his comments. I don't know enough about Billy Beane.

Note to Media or ESPN
don't interview Bradley.

Trevor being the voice of the clubhouse is enough for me.
