The Rules
(A version of these rules were posted in a diary long ago--I thought I'd make it official)
There are formerly unwritten rules that should or do exist throughout Major League Baseball. These rules apply to fans, players, and organizations alike. The rules have to do with fan activity at games.

1. The home team organization shall not adhere or cater to visiting team fans, directly or indirectly.
Examples:
A. When the visiting Red Sox were in San Diego, Luis Tiant, a former Red Sox great, was given the honor of throwing out the first pitch.
B. Home team stores selling visiting team merchandise.
2. Visiting team fans are allowed in the home team's ballpark, and may wear visiting team's colors. Visiting fans may never boo the home team, heckle the home players or fans, or use any materials to do so inaudibly. Visiting fans may only applaud when their team scores. They may never chant.
Visiting team fans may not throw back home team home run balls.
Examples:
A. Visiting team fans booing the announcement of the home team lineup or player at-bats.
B. Bringing a sign into the ballpark that demeans the home team or it's players.
C. Chanting "home team" suck/s
3. Home team fans may and are always encouraged to boo the visiting team, heckle it's players and fans, and chant. Home team fans are always permitted to make noise. A Major League Baseball park is not a library.
During critical situations, home team fans are permitted to stand. Other home team fans, if they really are home team fans, must not request that the standing fan be seated, as the importance of the situation dictates that the standing fan stand.
All visiting team home run balls must be thrown back onto the field. Balls given to home team fans by visiting players and foul balls caught off a visiting players bat may also be thrown back, but do not have to be.
Examples:
A. Being told to shut up at your home ballpark by home team fans
B. Being told to sit down as Trevor Hoffman attempts his 500th career save.
C. Keeping a Barry Bonds' home run ball in your home ballpark.
D. Sitting quietly as visiting team fans take over your ballpark.
4. People who wear merchandise belonging to/representing teams that are not playing in the present game or do not play in the same league/sport are not allowed. These "fans" are known as "random fans", for there is no known reason for these people to be at the game they are at. These people may always be heckled.
Examples:
A. Wearing a Boston Red Sox hat to a Padres/Dodgers game.
B. Wearing a San Diego Chargers jersey to a Padres/Diamondbacks game.
Let it be known that violation of these rules is done at one's own risk. Should one violate these rules, the violator will be subject to whatever punishment the home team fans see fit.
