Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

ensberg at 2b?

ensberg was interviewed a few minutes ago. he seems like a really funny guy. says he has no real tactic when hitting his homeruns just goes up and was just swinging as hard as he could hoping he touches the ball. said he was surprised he didn't roll over on it and hit it to the short stop like he usually does which was pretty funny.  he said he is so happy to be in San Diego and was really nervous on his way to the park today, but living by the beach and being in SD is exactly what he wants.

most importantly he says he hasn't played 2b since he was 9 years old and didn't even want to be playing there, but he said he is willing to do whatever the club wants down the stretch and knows the importance of being flexible during the playoff race. from everything i heard he is the type of player that plays better when he gets more plate appearances, so i think he would be happier playing everyday and most likely would produce better results. what do you guys think... do we give him some chances at 2b to keep him and kouz getting lots of playing time??

What other positions can he play?
Between mixing up spelling 3rd, his other key positions, and maybe a couple stabs at second, I think he def could get everday time.

If only there was some interleague games left, he could have got some time there as well.

I hope
that we still have a few inter-league games left. Maybe say 4-7?

Give him a shot!
What do we have to lose? Him or Kouzmanoff at second would be awesome.

And I love his attitude. He's gonna fit right in here.

Inanimate Carbon Rod
Between Khalil @ short and Gonzalez @ 1st, couldn't we put the inanimate carbon rod @ 2nd and still be OK?

they were just about to show some close ups of the Rod.

Ensberg
In his career Ensberg has only had significant at-bats as a 3rd baseman or as a pinch-hitter. He's had ONE at-bat as a shortstop...and three at-bats as a DH. That's it.

Having said that...last season we endured watching Todd Walker play in 23 games at 3rd base and Mark Bellhorn play in 50 games at third. Could we all stomach seeing Ensberg give second a go and maybe kick a few balls here and there? Ummm, yeah.

you know what I love best about you?
the imagery.  "kick a few balls here and there"  Makes me belly laugh.

but can he turn a double play?
If he can't, you can't have him out there.
