Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Hi..newbie here with a question....

Long time visitor....first time poster...

Star-divide

How did CY end up getting the loss in the All-Star game.  He only gave up the first two of five runs?  May be a stupid, insignificant question...but I was curious.

Because
He gave up the runs which gave the AL the lead, which we never erased.

so basically what your saying is...
regardless of the score, if you give up the lead and your team never ties or takes the lead..you take the loss?  Wow....never knew that.  Thanks.

Correct
Once the score is tied, then everything gets "recalculated". But if you leave the game in the sixth inning trailing 1-0, and your team loses 25-24, you still get the loss if your team never tied it up or took the lead.

talk about a tough loss
Young gave up Ichiro's inside the park homer, off of a really awkward bounce in the outfield. Should've been kept to a double and a run at the most. Who knows how it would've played out after that.

Actually, LaRussa would've somehow managed to lose it anyway. For him it was an exhibition match.
