Is Jake Injured?

First, this is my first diary.  I feel like I should preface if with "be nice," but I won't.  It would be useless anyway.

I was doing my normal morning Padres blog scroll and came across Anthony's analysis of the Gameday data for last night.  And he's got me worried.

The analysis points out two things: 1) Jake wasn't getting the corner calls, but we knew that; and 2) Jake's break on his pitches is way down.

Anthony thinks Jake's elbow is hurting and that's why he hasn't been locating his slider for the last two games.  He makes a pretty convincing case, just based off of his stats.  And it would explain (though I don't want it to)

Now, I'm not panicking, 'cause that wouldn't help (and really, my nerves can't take it).  BUT, I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts.

I'm not sure
I think the home plate ump last night - a AAA fill in - contributed a lot to Jake not getting the corner calls.  Guy was wildly inconsistent.  And he really only pitched one bad inning last night and it was as he crossed the 100 pitch mark.

I'm actually glad you brought this up
Just before Jake started getting into trouble in the 7th, I noticed that on some pitches he would jerk his right elbow up after the delivery -- that is, a little bit more exaggerated than usual. It kind of scared me, but I didn't say anything at the time because I was sure it was nothing and no one in the broadcast booth said anything either. I'm still sure it's nothing. Forget I said anything.

Not injured
but not at 100%, he was flexing his arm a lot after some of the pitches.  I think every pitchers goes through times when he is not 100%, but will bounce back.  No need to worry, if anything is bothering him, I am sure buddy will only need to push him back a day.

I'm not really *too* worried
I like to think that Jake learned to keep the trainers in on every detail of his health after the broken rib incident.  Lessons learned the hard way are usually well-remembered, you know?
