Petco was freakin Fenway!

There is nothing I like better than spending $125 on a Toyota Terrace ticket in order to be surrounded by SAHKS fan...it was really brutal

Can we Padre fans not fill up at least 50% of the seats in Petco for a major interleague series?

Oh, and another thing...whoever produces the whole Petco audio/video experience needs to be fired or spend a week at Dojir Stadium..as much as I hate to say it, win or lose it's an impressive show

The only cool moment of production yesterday was Metallica for Hoffman...it provided me with 30 seconds of relief from those pasty BAHSTAN fans

a bit surprising
I went to Sunday's game and was totally surrounded by sox fans. What I was surprised about was that the few I talked to had been in so cal for over 20 years. One even said he was a huge Padres fan unless the bo-sox were in town. I was kind of wondering if all those fans were truelly New Engalnders or just people that adopted the Red Sox because they had a layover at the airport.

We really only had one problem with a girl sox fan behind us who became increasingly drunk. Her voice was like a skill saw everytime she spoke. She yelled "padres suck" to which a bunch of people including red sox fans went said "woah!". The sox fan next to us reminded her that the pads weren't the Yankees so there was no need for that kind of talk. That was actually pretty cool of him.

I Was There Saturday
and my take was that it seemed about 50-50 to me.  I saw as many Padres fans representin' as Sox fans, at least based on their gear.   The Sox fans seemed louder during the Friday and Sunday games, which I listened to on the radio, but when I was there on Saturday they didn't seem all that intense.  Might have been because they had their asses shut out practically the whole game, and know better when to talk smack.

Which brings me to this: maybe it had something to do with the Red Sox being totally overpowered that night, but I didn't run across a single overly-loud, obnoxious or rude Sox fan the entire night.  At least the ones in my section were very cordial and seemed to be all about enjoying a friendly interleague rivalry.  Perhaps the fans were different in other sections, but in Sec. 108 they were a decent lot.

Overall, it was a much more good-natured vibe than when the Dodgers come to town.  I saw a game at Petco where we beat LA, and the Dodger fans were still slingling macho shit-talk in the bathroom after the game.  I also saw where DodgerTroll came into our open thread yesterday and had the nerve to heckle us about losing to the Red Sox the same day the Dodgers got their asses handed to them by...TAMPA BAY?!?   Sheesh.  At least we won our series at Tampa Bay.  Give me Sox fans over those idiot Dodger fans any day of the week.

(And I'm not saying ALL Dodgers fans are idiots...but unfortunately the idiots are the ones you notice.)

Agree 100%
That was exactly my experience Sat night too. And I was there by myself walking back to my car after the game and felt totally safe and mostly just had fun watching and listening to the crowds.

It sounds like
the score on Saturday night shut down RS Nation.  It wasn't like that on Sunday.

There was one funny moment
when Khalilbot was up to bat and I overheard one Sox fan behind me say to her friend as an aside: "he should be an easy out".  Hand to God, the SECOND she finished saying that, Greeney slammed it out of the park for his first homer of the night.

I couldn't help but turn around and flash a self-satisfied grin.  (Although I wasn't 100% sure who said it...so hell, now that I think about it, it may have been a Padres fan.)

I sold my tickets to some Red Sox Fans.
I had some regret, but the season ticket prices for the Padres are ridicuolosly high.  While at one point I thought I should keep them and support my team, and other thought was I don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of drunks fans who really don't understand baseball, and with the amount of money we made off the seats it was hard to turn down.  For this series we made more per seat than playoff tickets.  I do feel bad, but I also blame Moore, our seats went from $36 at the Q, to now $55 a seat.  That's a 50% increase in just 4 years!.  Plus the season discount prices has shrunk.  It use to be 20-25%, now it much less.(I think closer to 10%).

The Padres also made a bunch of money on this series.  I know most of the season ticket holders sold their tickets for this series on the Market place, where the Padres takes a 10% cut on BOTH ends, plus some service fees.  Plus they keep our money and apply it to next year tickets.  For our family only the collected the original price of the seats ($1350 for the series) plus 10% of the sales price from us ($675) and 10% from the buyer ($675) plus a convience charge from the buyer ($135).  That adds up to $2850 in the Padres coffers for 27 tickets.  This comes out to an average of $105 for field level seats the Padres collected. (9 tickets for 3 games) (that doesn't include the interests they will make off of our money which should equal another $150.).

The least I can ask for is a backup infielder who doesn't completely suck and one outfielder who doesn't strike out every time.

"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"

Dodger Stadium has better audio/video?
I'm gonna have to disagree, and disagree strongly with this sentiment. I think that the Padres do a fairly good job top to bottom with their audio and video production. While I dislike the "Take me out to the ballgame" team intro and miss the "Padres Theme" from years past, I still think we have better audio/video production then the Dodgers. The other thing that is annoying about Dodger Stadium is that they have one central bank of speakers that feeds the entire stadium. So unless you're sitting fairly close to the speakers, you can't always make out what's going on.

it really depends where you sit
but if you sit out in the bleachers the audio at dodger stadium is SO loud and it really pumps up the drunken idiotic fans out there. I must say, sitting out there i remember thinking how much better the audio and scoreboard team did during the game. when they show the dodger lineups before the game they have good jock jams pump up music playing and the crowd goes nuts as each player is announced, in SD its probably the most boring/ least paid attention to part of the game. i also like how in LA when they turn a double play they play "it takes two to make a thing go right, it takes two to make it outta sight"  song. i absolutely hate the dodgers and their fans but i have to say the audio visual people in the stadium do a great job of keeping it a lively and fun atmosphere.

i really get sick of the stupid GET LOUD sign being the only thing that somewhat gets the fans at Petco to cheer everytime there is 2 strikes and we are pitching.  i feel like without the get loud sign the padre fans wouldnt even know they should be cheering.

threepeat?(never thought id be able to say that about the padres!)

Pains me to say it
but the most obnoxious fan I saw all night was on our side.  I was waiting for the trolley after the game and a (drunk) guy in a Padres shirt walked past loudly announcing "Go home Red Sox Nation!  We don't want you here!" over and over.

(But other than him, we seemed to behave ourselves.)
