Yet another way to dis the Padres

Look how low this idiot has ranked Peavy/Young. His excuse is that Petco's extreme pitcher's bias hurts our combo. Wake up, stat-heads! Only in fantasy universe where games are played in identical, hermetically sealed domes would this kind of ranking matter. The fact is that the Padres do play in Petco, and home or away, our boys will wax Webb/Haren.

Petco Factor
How about Chris Young's twenty five consecutive starts without a road loss? How does Petco suppress that?

I would agree that Webb and Haren
are a better 1-2, but that is solely because of CY's injury problems. If he has a full healthy season, then I completely expect Jake and CY to put up petter numbers (park adjusted or not) than Webb and Haren.

Regardless, those rankings are a joke. Aaron Harang is a pretty good pitcher but Arroyo was awful last year. It's also a little ridiculous to see how low Verlander and Bonderman are rated.

That was
the most ignorant piece of crap excuse for journalism I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

Eh
He did say take it with a grain of salt. The problem I see with his analysis (besides using ERA as a measuring stick) is that although as a whole, PETCO certainly helped our pitching staff last season, Jake and CY were less affected by it(pre CY injury). They are both good pitchers regardless where they pitch. He is probably right that the average pitcher will have more success in Petco, but to say that Jake and CY will only prevent 12.7 more earned runs than the average starter seems ridiculous. I have a hard time believing that having those two at the top of our rotation will only provide ONE extra win over having two league average starters at the top of our rotation. Maybe he shouldn't have used the Park Factor to adjust every start for every pitcher, after all, Jake and CY won't get to make EVERY start in Petco.

Regardless, Mr. Pinto has a pretty good website, and although I don't like this analysis, I will continue to read his stuff.

That's seriously retarded
I can't believe we're sending traffic that way. It's completely idiotic.

Seems like they all have access to the "really good" stuff.

That "piece"
is seriously "super below average."

Who came up with those terms?  A second grader?

A grain of salt
doesn't make Jeff Francis and Aaron Cook taste good as the #3 1-2 punch in the majors.

I'm sure I could crunch some numbers to find Andujar Cedeno to be the best SS of all time.
