Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

Would the Padres ever hire a player named in the Mitchell Report? Short answer: Yes

Long Answer:

Padres atypically quiet on the western drug front

Would the Padres consider signing a player whose name appeared in the Mitchell Report? Just asking.

"I don't know the answer to that question, but it's something you would have to carefully weigh," said Alderson, choosing his words with equal caution. "We would evaluate on a case-by-case basis, in light of all of the circumstances. Talent would not always be the determining factor."

I don't think this article is particularly fair to Joyner saying that he has remained silent since his name being mentioned in the Mitchell report.  He admitted 2 years ago that he tried steroids, what else does he need to say? He told his whole story.  That's the thing about Cami and Joyner, at least you can respect them for telling the truth without somebody forcing them to, or being outed by a trainer first.

In that article
they mentioned an "unnamed" big name player that they Padres would have gone after if not for steroids. Were they talking about Bonds or someone else? Any Guesses?
