D-Bags Making Moves

Dan Haren is now a D-Bag in a 6 for 2 trade with Oakland headlined by Carlos Gonzalez.

Jose Valverde is heading to Houston in a 3 for 1 trade headlined by Chad Qualls.

D-Bags rotation is getting stronger!!

Trades
A's got Carlos Gonzalez, Brett Anderson, Dana Eveland, Greg Smith, Chris Carter, and Aaron Cunningham.

DBags got Chris Burke, Chad Qualls, and Juan Gutierrez for Valverde.

I don't really know anything about those 5 prospects they gave up but 5 for 1 is a large ratio they must have given up some pretty good players.

We won't have to deal with Valverde's stupid antics anymore who are they going to promote to closer? Qualls maybe?

Ok
6:2 is the actual ratio. But still.

By the way....
Did I mention how nice it is to actually talk baseball again?

My 2 cents: The Mitchell Report is a complete joke!! 90% of the names listed are coming from 1 of 2 guys:
(1)A batboy turned clubhouse guy turned car wash owner, and
(2)A New York City cop turned bullpen catcher/BP pitcher turned strength & conditioning coach.

These guys have nothing to lose since they're both already gonna be serving time for distribution, and EVERYTHING to gain (ie book deals)

Valverde
I don't get them trading Valverde for essentially used parts.  Maybe they hated his act, too?

When I first saw the trade on ESPN...
I thought "Wait, wasn't Valverde the OCD guy that was AZ's closer?" He was pretty lights out, and just became the D'Backs saves leader. I don't get it....Qualls has 6 career saves while Valverde has 98....what gives? Did the D'Backs sign a closer that we missed?

I am going to miss how Valverde struck out Manny Alexander and started yelling at him, and Manny yelled back, and Steve Quis was like "Oh we have to keep an eye on this, these guys must have had a rivalry in the minors!" Just made me laugh.

...and we're STILL waiting for MATT HOLLIDAY to touch the plate.

Valverde
I think they were selling high...they could have got a tad bit more...but they were selling high. Josh Byrnes is a pretty smart GM.

I think you're right. Valverde had a good year...
but he's likely due for a dip.

Plus, he's clearly a total headcase.  I vote him most likely to get Lidged--someone is going to hit a monster homer off him in a big situation, and he will literally never recover.

Freekin unreal
Dan Haren is only SLIGHTLY worse than Johan Santana.  This was a huge deal.

What is going on, usually the DBags just try to buy championships, now there GM is pulling in great trades......(of course with Beane involved this will probably go from a complete fleece in favor of the DBags, to a fair trade for both teams).
