Rowand signs with Giants

5 years, 60 mil. I never saw him on the Padres radar seriously, but a bummer anyway. I guess Jason Bay is THAT much closer to coming to the Padres. I think Rowand is a good fit up North, he definitely has gap power, and will play hard. BIG upgrade over our beloved Doctor.

Personally
I like this move (From a Pads fans perspective) because I think it's gonna back-fire on the Giants. I think he had his career year in '07 and is not gonna come anywhere near those numbers in the pitching rich, cavernous ball parks that are the NL west. I could be wrong, but I just don't see him being worth that amount of money for that amount of years. Good work Sabean. Way to further bury your franchise!! Poor Boch.....

Great...
No Jones, No Rowand, No Fuku...what happens to all that extra money the Pads have floating around now?

I vote for a Petco Beer Subsidy!

$2 Sam Adams for everyone!

P.S.   Anyone interested in heading out to Peoria for outfield tryouts???

I can hit .240 with my eyes closed...

2 of those guys aren't worth what they got
The Rowand contract is ridiculous.  Look at his entire career before 2007.  Fukudome isn't worth 50 million, either--certainly not to us.

Jones, though, I would have liked at 2/36.  Lots of money, but less risk.

Are you...
  1.  Slow as a slug
  2.  a first pitch swinger
  3.  a great clubhouse guy
  4.  from San Diego
If so, you're hired.
