Headley (hopefully) Not Going Anywhere
I, for one, would be EXTREMELY disappointed if Chase is dealt, especially to Pittsburgh for an OF (Bay) who is coming off of an injury.
There's been a lot of talk about how Headley and Antonelli are as close to "untouchable" as ones could get in our system.
To that end, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this quote from KT in Krasovic's most recent blog entry (http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/weblog/2007/12/padres_and_pirates.html):
"I know that Pittsburgh loves Headley. We told them I don't know how many times we're not going to move Headley."
There are also some great indirect quotes from Alderson and Fuson in that same article.
KT...DO NOT TRADE CHASE!!! We have been waiting for years for our farm system to produce some positional talent (other than Khalil). He and Antonelli, until proven otherwise, are those guys!!!! I want to see those 2 in Petco Park fulltime no later than Opening Day 2009.

Agreed
It seems like forever since the SD minor league system has produced players that can play at the major league level. After a number of yrs of retooling, it seems like we're on the verge of finally seeing some really good young talent come from our own farm system. I don't want to see those guys traded away unless absolutely necessary.

Along the same lines
Imagine, an Adrian/Antonelli/Khalil/Kouz IF with Headley in LF and Hairston in RF in 2009. That's not a bad place to start.
