New Blog: The Boxing Bulletin for Boxing Fans!

Welcome to the Fuku Dome.

Dear Mr Dome,
It's like 11:25 am Tuesday in Japan and you said you would make your decision by Tuesday morning, unless you meant our Tuesday and our "Tuesday" could be Central time, if you are talking about Chicago or Pac time, if you are considering SD or SF and it is about time to make your damn decision.

If you are going to kick us in the balls, do it now please, so we can move on to the idea of Steve Finley in CF and start drinking heavily.

Excellent Post
I was gonna do the same I couldn't think of a clever headline like you. Anyway, I heard on the radio we are supposed to get word late tonight. I have finals this week and I will be up late anyway. Therefore, I will be constantly checking to see. Anyway, the Cubs already have his jersey and locker ready, and the Fukudome Bobble Heads ready to ship to Wrigley Field.

Seriously
The guys like Bigfoot. Not sure if he even exists!

And yes if Finley is patrolling CF next year I do foresee many a beers in my future.

eh
I actually don't like the subject line and think it's disrespectful to his name, but that's just the Japanese culture part of me.

But seriously... sign with the Padres already.

I can only speak for myself
But I tend to make disrespectful puns out of most baseball players' names, regardless of race/color/creed/team/abilities/livingordead/etc.

Trust me (like...you even know me)...
"welcome to the fuku dome" will be the most tame thing said about this Japanese ballplayer, should he (if he exists) end up playing stateside.  Pray (to no one) that he ends up playing in SD, where he will actually get a grain of respect and a minimum of name bashing.

At least
as far as the newest articles on MLB.com and CBSSportsline the cities are narrowed down to Chicago (Losers and Whitesox) and America's Finest City.

According to this we are supposed to hear from The Dome at around 10 PM CST. Which is 8 PM PST. Which is now. EVERYBODY PANIC! (fark humor)

question
How many of you actually have SEEN him play in a game... not youtube clips... not scouting reports... but actually have seen him play a live game.

A couple years ago at the WBC
He seemed like a decent player.  Pretty much the same as what everyone else has said about the guy in scouting reports.
There's always next year son

Ummm
I've said this before, but he got benched during the WBC for batting under .182 with a .240 obp.  It's amazing how people "remember" his WBC performance as  above average when he actually stunk up the place.  I think people only remember his hr at Petco... which was a pinch hit hr btw....against Byung Hyung Kim of course hahaha.

Regardless... I still think Kosuke will be a stud after an initial adjustment period.

I love
the maniacal laugh that always ensues Byung Hyung Kim, conjures up capes and childhood pantomimes...

well
It's Byung Hyung Kim, who wouldn't laugh at that guy? hahhahaha

Joe Urbon knows but he won't tell us!
"The agent for Japanese free agent Kosuke Fukudome said today he doesn't expect to hear from his client about his intentions to play in the U.S. in 2008 until sometime after 10 p.m. (CST) tonight and doesn't plan to contact the Cubs or any other stateside suitor until Tuesday, regardless of Fukudome's decision."

Who the f*ck are you Joe Urbon?  You know where he is going but you won't bend the east west time continuium....are you a freaking timelord or just an azzhole / agent?

Joe Urbon (if that's your real name) and Fukudome (if you really exist), reveal your true intentions and let the poor (actually rather rich) people of San Diego (and the Padre diaspora) suffer the crushing reality of a center fielder who hits just north of the mendoza line and never pops one when it counts... and will Mike Cameron be able to hit when he is not spun out on crank?

The sun is rising somewhere (and I am comfortable in my slumber) with the fact that Sandy and KT made an offer for the "next big thing" but we came up just a bit short...again.  But, I can dream and sometimes that is enough...when you are a Padre fan.

Repost:
Word from the man himself.
"I won't be playing for a Japanese club next season, I'll play in the majors," Fukudome said. "I appreciate the fans who supported me for nine years. I hope that the fans continue to root for me when they see me playing in the United States."
