Towers expects Yankees manager Joe Girardi to hire Padres first-base coach Bobby Meacham as his third-base coach. The two are friends, and Girardi hired Meacham for his Marlins staff. Towers said in-house candidates to replace Meacham are minor league managers Rick Renteria and Randy Ready.
