Around SBN: Can Tebow Say No To Anything?

Billy Almon chimes in with a modest off-season request

A defensive catcher.

Yeah, I know Bard can hit pretty well for a catcher.    We know he can block the plate.  He doesn't throw pretty well for a catcher.  Isn't this still a glaring hole?

I can live with him starting 120 games for us, but he should be treated as Piazza was, taken out of games we are leading after his 3rd plate appearance.
The defensive catcher can be a pro hitter as well.

One intriguing name: Miguel Olivo.  Love the second-tour-of-duty Padre.  KT will just as likely pull an unknown out of the aether.

Hmm...
I hear Ben Davis is looking for work. As a former padre, he fits the criteria of free agents we're willing to sign.

Other criteria:

Player is originaly from San Diego
Player is an aging veteran well past his prime

if he had retired
after his bunt single to breakup Schilling's no hitter, it would already have been a good career for Ben Davis.

Davis
Was that guy ever in his prime?

I've heard rumors
of Jason Kendall puke. I think he satisfies your request.

I love Bard
but he isn't even that good at blocking the plate.  The last play of the season was Barrett and I remember thinking, well if we had left Bard in we wouldn't even be arguing about this b/c he wouldn't have even blocked the plate.

I agree that a defensive catcher would be a great addition

We can probably get
Ramón Hernández back from the O's cheap.  His hitting has tapered off and they are playing him less and less.

I heart Ramon
but how is that better than Barrett?
Just asking?  Mailbag style...
