Open Thread 4/23: Padres vs Metropolitans

Games about to start. Here's your source for witty banter during.

Let's see if Clay can't mold a victory out of this one. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!

That's actually a Padres.com joke. Don't blame me.

Zambrano struggling
See the old Padres would've let Zambrano settle in and relax without scoring more this inning.

As of today, these are the new Padres and they won't be letting up that easy.

Or maybe they will
Now the pessimist in me is saying that Zambrano will pitch no hit baseball the rest of the way through.

even if Victor could toss a no no
he'd still walk 12-13 guys.

Pulling Hensley is crap here.
A guy induces two groundballs and a pop fly and you pull him?  Bull shit.

Scott Cassidy is a bum.
He just walked Jose Reyes and Chris Woodward in the same inning.

The least you can ask of a manager...
is that he no lose games for you.  Bochy can't meet that simple requirement.

If you expect Hensley to be a starter
then let him pitch like a starter, not an extended relief specialist (75 pitches and he's done without a hard hit that inning).

Speaking of Keith...
(or at least his counterpart) he mentioend that Clay Hensley was one of the guys busted for steroids last year, one of the minor league pitchers.

Is that true?

Padres getting some them runs back
I'll be happy with a split this series, but I'll still be bummed about the wasted Peavy start.

Dude...I thought I dwelled...
think today!

How about I really like Hoffman at 3rd...last year Pich would have held Barfielf for no discernable reason.

I like how he held Hensley at third with floyd fielding and avoiding a nasty pitcher sliding at home situation.  I think Pich in that case sends him because he has no idea what to do.

so true
I was thinking the same thing on Friday.

Nobody covering second...
...For Cameron getting the ball in. Was Khalil used to the weak throw coming from center? He should've been on that.

by Dex on Apr 23, 2006 3:26 PM PDT reply actions

I can totally see that
like, WHOAH, someone hustling and getting that play in????

by bktabinga on Apr 23, 2006 3:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Wait.....
we won?! We......won? WE WON!
