Hensley as a starter

I wonder what happened to good pitchers these days.  It seems like the best ones are getting old.  So what happened to the young guys?  Seems they're few and far between.  I'm really curious to see what Hens can do.  He seems to have the stuff to be a starter, considering he's always been a starter before coming up to the majors.  It just worries me when he's been pretty good as a reliever and I don't want to see him mess up really bad as a starter.  Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.  I really hope he succeeds though and can be one of 5 starters.  Once Estes comes back it could be a decent rotation.  I'm liking Young so far, and Woody was decent yesterday.  Park I'm not sure of, but I haven't ruled him out yet.  He did ok I guess.  It would be nice to have a few more guys that give you that warm fuzzy feeling when they hit the mound though, kind of like Peavy.  Look at the White Sox.  Seems every guy they have is a threat.  Anyway, I guess that's it.  Just curious what everyone thinks Hensley will do tomorrow.

Star-divide

Well...no win for Hens, but at least he didn't get a loss either. Good game Clay!

Hensley
I'd love to see the guy succeed and I wish him all the best, but in my personal judgement I don't see him as a starter. I think I've stated this a few times here, I just don't think his stuff is good enough and varied enough to last more than once or twice through the lineup. Right now, I've also seen Hensley struggling even out of the pen. I predict that he will have a tough time in the first, settle down, and eventually be hit hard in the 5th or 6th and have to be taken out. Not bad, but not great either.

Don't get me wrong
I agree all the way. Brazleton is done. I don't mean to be cruel, but I hope the Padres never give him another chance to pitch in a ball game where we still have a chance of winning.

I'm liking this guy as a starter
He seemed so in control in both of his starts so far.  Once he gets the stamina to go 100 pitches, he may be our #2 starter.  Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I've liked Hensley from the first time he pitched last year.  And he's always been a starter before coming to the majors.  Anyone here how he even got here?  It's a pretty interesting story.  I heard him tell it the other day.  He actually quit baseball entirely for 3 years!  Then missed it so bad that he went to play for a junior college and then ended up getting a full scholarship for his final year at a real college.  I think he has great potential and I am definitely liking this rotation more than I was in the beginning of the year with him in it now.  And Sweeney in the bullpen...he's been pretty good too to go along with Linebrink & Hoffy.  Still trying to figure out Cassidy, though it seems a lot of people like him.

He should have gotten the win
last night.  That would have made an awesome story.  Getting hit by a bat, yet continuing to pitch 6 innings without a run scored and get the win.  Oh well.  I'm just soooooo glad he's ok.  He's starting to rank up there on my list near Peavy.  I can tell he admires Jake a lot by the way he continued to pitch last night even though he was bleeding from his head.  That's something Jake woulda done too.  Way to go Clay!
