2006 Padres Predictions

The season is right around the corner.  Are you a psychic?  Think you can make some predictions about the Padres season.  Here's your chance to get it down in writing.  Let's see who really knows the Padres, once and for all!

Here's what I want. Gimme the number of wins for the Friars and their place in the NL West. That's bare minimum.

If your in the mood...  Pick the World Series Champion, wild cards, trades, arrests, etc.

I'm gonna think this over real good tonight and put my picks in tomorrow.  Somebody else start us off.

Pads finish in 2nd with a record of 83-79.  I hope I'm wrong.

2nd
Last subject should read 2nd.  At first I had third down, I forgot they play in the NL West.  It's late.

You taking the opening shot to continue last night's debate, gwynntown?

ha
That's good clean funny

Huh???
The difference between Albert Pujols and Ryan Klesko isn't 11 wins. Rudimentary analysis will tell you these things. One could infer from your prediction that you think Gonzales is better than Pujols.

You just have to make a tiny bit of effort.

Pads wins
I'll go with 79 wins.  Giants win the division.

Cardinals win the NL
Yankees win the AL

There are a lot of ifs....
This team and the whole NL West for that matter is hanging on the thread of "ifs."  If there was an "if" god, every team in the NL West (possibly in the whole MLB) would sacrafice its batboy at the end of the season to appease its wrath or something like that.... Uhhh... Sorry, I sorta got off the point... :D

87 Wins, 1st place
We will have 3 starters on the DL by May.

I predict Bonds won't make it through the season.

Klesko will suck.

87????
with 3 starters on the DL?  Who is going to pitch then to get us to 87?
I say Bonds is suspended by May.

93-68-1
Padres win the division with a 22 game winning streak to close the season.  Fueled by late season call ups Cesar Carilla and surprising Cy Young candidate Carl Pavano (acquired just before the deadline from the Yankees for Mike Piazza and Woody Williams, who subsequently injures his pitching wrist while taking BP - inexplicable considering he was traded to the AL).  Barfield wins rookie of the year.  Padres and Rangers awarded a tie in an inter-league game where Aki and Embree are both ejected for using performance enhancing drugs before the game.  After starting the season, 0-6, Chan Ho returns to Dodger form and pitches first no-hitter in Padres history against, you guessed it, the LA Dodgers in Chavez Ravine.  He then posts 16 consecutive victories.  Hoffy claims all-time save record on July 4th after Padres rally from 12 run deficit to take the lead in the eighth on a grand slam by Khalil against Tom Gordon in Philly.

Adrian Gonzalez wins Gold Glove, Cameron goes 30-30, Mirabelli hits 15 homers, Sledge moves into SL after Roberts gets hurt - hits .320 with 15 homers in 420 AB.

Padres get swept by Cardinals in 1st round......again.
