So this weekend I had a great time with Jbox, Dex, Kev and tfast down at Friarfest.  Besides all the great activities we did I ended up buying a game used Padre jersey for only $35.  The Pads had a "Garage Sale" and some stuff was crazy cheap.  I've always like the uniform with the pinstripes and blue and orange script the Pads sported for the majority of the 1990s.  So I searched the $35 pile and found two in my size.  I hadn't heard of either player so I grabbed #41 ARVESEN.

The problem now is that I can't figure out who this dude is.  The best I can come up with is some pitcher drafted by the Pirates in 1989 that went by the name Scott Arvesen.  I'm not sure if this is the same guy.

I've narrowed the jersey down to 1994-2001 based on the type of Jersey and the patch on the left shoulder.  Then I checked the rosters of those years.  Good ol' Sterling Hitchcock had #41 for the most part, among others.  1995-96 nobody used #41.  So I'm wondering if this guy was as close as one can get without ever playing in the Show.  Poor Arvesen smelled the coffee but never got a cup. Or perhaps he was a coach or a bullpen catcher.  I don't know.  I'm completely baffled.
