North County Times reporting that we're still looking for pitching. Can't have enough pitching, yo. What, you wanted a left fielder?
Towers indicated he isn't seeking an outfielder to supplant the Terrmel Sledge-Jose Cruz Jr. platoon in left field.
"Pitching is No. 1," he said.
Who could that pitcher be? Could it be 1998 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player, Sterling Hitchcock!?
"Pitching is No. 1," he said.
You might have noticed the name of former Padres pitcher Sterling Hitchcock among baseball's free agents. He asked the Padres to take him off the voluntarily retired list in anticipation of a possible comeback. That could be with the Padres, if they like what they see.
If we get Wells and Hitchcock, it'll be like Space Cowboys up in the hizz. Space travel's so gay.

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
