How to revolutionize baseball

Umpires should throw penalty flags when something happens that's not very sporting. Like when guys argue balls and strikes a little too much, throw the flag. Just like football.

Then, what you do is when your team gets a penalty flag thrown against them, the other team gets a runner on second base regardless of who's up to bat.

Imagine the antics when the defense has a runner on second base. Should the batter swing for the fences? His homer will essentially become pointless cause the runner will count against him. Man, that would be fantastic.

I like your attempt
to occupy your mind with something besides this trade bs.

I always thought baseball should institute a slip n' slide from 3rd to home plate on days with 80+ degree weather.

Mmmm David Ortiz in boeardshorts.

I'm betting...
Keith Hernandez would expand his horizons if a slip-n-slide were involved!

I like the idea of putting
defensive players on base.  Could they field the ball from on base too?  I say yes.

New rule: Throw the ball at a baserunner
if you hit him, he's out.  If you hit him in the head, it's two outs.

Old Rule
That wouldn't be a new rule, but reactivating an old rule. Well, the two outs for a headshot would be new. To make it even more exciting, if the runner catches the ball he can throw it back at a defensive player, and if it hits the defensive player and he doesn't catch it, he has to play the rest of the inning without a glove(or mitt for the catcher).

Multiple runners on the same base?
So what happens if there is already a guy on second base? If they are from the same team does one of them move up? If they are from different teams, should they play rock-paper-scissors and the loser is out? Think of the strategy! You are on defense and the other team just argued a call and got flagged. Their power hitter is coming up in a big situation with two outs. Do you pitch around him? No way! You send your best rock-paper-scissor guy to second base, then argue some nonsensical call with the ump, creating a showdown at second base. Your guy wins, inning over!

Remember when Matty and Mark would card each other for saying stupid things, and if they got too many cards they couldn't talk for the rest of the half-inning?

I love it!
What if...  they are in the process of rock-paper-scissors when one of them gets hit by the ball.
Is he out before his rps call, can you send in a pinch rps-er?  Is it possible to go through the entire line-up at second base without anyone new coming to the plate?
Would we need a whole new set of stats for trading purposes for your ability or lack thereof to irritate an umpire?  Nark-otics, perhaps?

Will WE get carded for continuing with this post?

Speaking of cards
would they have to start taking players off the field on a stretcher - after a rough slide or a tough catch?

No body armor
Just let the first base coach carry a bottle of magic spray.

Injured
players may only leave the field between innings!  You must lie where you drop until that point.  Mmmm, perhaps you could mess with base-runners, or would that be a flag/card?

Good point
To prevent it from getting out of control, maybe we should go to a card sytem instead. If you get two cards you are gone.

What happens if the defense has a guy on base and he gets and out?!?! (Shortstop tries to peg the runner on second, but misses and hits his own guy). Do you start the next inning with only two outs?
