Question about the Padres Farm System....

I am quite curious about your guys local take on the farm system in SD. With Barfield and Hensley getting the call up last year, it looks like the system is reaping some rewards. What does the pipeline look like in the near future? I know Cesar Carillo is supposed to be the next ace, but beyond that, what are some of the things the up close perspective offers you guys? Thanks!

Prospects
Beyond some pretty good prospects like Carillo, Chase Headley, Matt Antonelli, Nick Hundley and Cedric Hunter, I think the system is pretty thin.

The lack of any depth at the middle infield positions is a little troubling.

Peter Friberg has a good list of the top 20 (25? I forget) Pads' prospects on his site:

Thanks for the plug...
...very thin at the top, with quite a few gems and a lot of depth below...

Peter....
Can you believe we didn't even get an arm for Bochy from the Giants?? Not even a low-level prospect. Brutal.
Let's have some fun out here! This game's fun, OK? Fun goddamnit.

I was furious...
The Padres talked about how open they were to having Bochy back if he did not want to test the waters, but I think the fact that the Padres did not seek compensation (which could have scared off potential suitors) tells us how badly the Padres brass wanted Bochy out of dodge...
