A possible explanation for the Chan Ho trade

... it's the infield.

Simply put, the Padres have better infield defense than the Rangers.  Chan Ho's rep as a flyball pitcher is all air; he isn't and hasn't been one throughout his career.  The Rangers have some of the worst infield defense in the majors, and though the Padres aren't leading the league, it represents an improvement for a guy who's getting 3:2 groundballs to flyballs.  Home runs haven't plagued CHP much this year, so it's conceivable that he'll be at least acceptable.
