Cesar Carrillo Debuts
As a South Floridian, I take in a fair number of Miami Hurricane baseball games each year. This year the Padres picked Miami's Cesar Carrillo in the first round.
Cesar made his debut recently in Single-A, and it sounds like he had a nice debut.
I was hoping that Cesar would be picked by the Marlins or the White Sox (his home town team), but I think you'll be really happy to have him in San Diego sometime soon.
Over the years I've watched a number of future-Major Leaguers come through Coral Gables, including: Pat Burrell, Jason Michaels, Aubrey Huff, Bobby Hill, David Eckstein, Brad Wilkerson, and J.D. Drew. But Carrillo dominated the college game more than any of them. He's a tiny guy, but a heck of a pitcher.
